The Most Un-Scary Carrie Homages In TV And Movies

Did the brand new Carrie scare the crap out of you over the weekend? Or did you skip it, ’cause you’d seen the Brian de Palma original too many times? Or maybe, if you’re like me, you have never felt the need to see either version because a) you’re a scaredy cat, and b) this movie has been referenced and clipped and parodied and paid homage to so many times, that it really feels like you’ve seen it anyway. It’s even a verb: Being “Carrie’d,” as in having a bucket of blood (or other unsavory liquid) spilled on you when you’re onstage. Really, you’d think schools and theaters would have people checking the rafters more frequently for mean girls carrying suspicious pails. Anyway, if you’re chicken like me, but feel the need to talk about the movie with your horror-buff friends this Halloween season, here you have five very benign Carrie moments in pop culture:

Chloe Moretz Casting Rumors Give Us So Much Hope For The Carrie Remake

Time to bust out those dirty pillows, horror fans! According to Deadline, MGM and director Kim Peirce have offered the lead in their upcoming Carrie remake to Chloe Moretz. While other actresses like True Grit‘s Hailee Steinfeld and even Lindsay Lohan were mentioned in conjuncture with the part, Chloe is clearly the only reasonable choice when it comes to young women who could blow up prom with their minds. Maybe it’s the eyes? What makes Chloe the ideal candidate, you ask? Let us break it down for you while you plug it up! Plug it up! Plug it up!:

Age: Chloe is currently 15, and therefore intimately aware of how much it can suck to be in high school.  Sissy Spacek was already 27 when she killed it (both literally and figuratively) in Brian De Palma‘s classic 1976 version of the 1974 Stephen King bestseller. Actress Angela Bettis was 29 when she starred in the 2002 Carrie TV remake and, really, how well did that go over? No, seriously, we would like to know. Has anyone seen it?
