Congratulations, Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell! The former Beatle and the New York businesswoman got married yesterday afternoon at Old Marylebone Town Hall in London. Paul was obviously in a jovial mood as he left their home for the venue, joking with all the photographers assembled outside, saying, “What’s going on? What are you all doing here?” Paul and Nancy have been dating since 2007 and he popped the question earlier this year in May.
Nancy wore an ivory dress and shoes by Paul’s daughter, fashion designer Stella McCartney, who also made the navy suit her Dad wore on the day. A reception was also held at the new couple’s home at St Johns Woods afterwards. How many famous faces attended? Plenty, as expected. Check out the wedding and reception photographs in the gallery below. All you need is love!

Here at The FAB Life, they don’t come much bigger than one of the original fabs, Paul McCartney! The legend added a new notch to his musical resume last night with the New York City premiere of his ballet composition, Ocean’s Kingdom. It was certainly a family affair, as Paul was joined in Lincoln Center by his fashionista daughter Stella, musician son James, and rumored fiancee Nancy Shevell. But even more stars turned out by the galaxy-load to watch the unveiling of the work for themselves. Sarah Jessica Parker turned up in what appeared to be a lace tablecloth, while the lovely Liv Tyler shown in a see-through black gown. A very trim Alec Baldwin kept things classy in a tux, while Jon Bon Jovi and Little Stevie Van Zandt kept the rock ‘n’ roll flag flying high. And Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees made an appearance to up the WTF factor. He’s had an opening in his calender since 1969.
On the way to the theater, the-still-pretty-cute Beatle admitted to feeling “quietly confident and nervous” about how his work would go down with the crowd of famous faces. “I’d seen the great traditional ballets like Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, but I had a very limited knowledge of ballet,” he told the Press Association. “Since this project I’ve obviously started to take notice.” But don’t except him to pirouette for us anytime soon. “I went to see Giselle recently in London and was bowled over by the sheer athleticism of the dancers,” he said. “The next day I tried to do one of the steps and failed dismally.” Although our idolization of him is so intense, we’d gladly pay big bucks for a show called Paul McCartney Fails At Dancing For Two Hours. Plus it would remind us of our prom. Check out more from last night in the gallery below!

It was all about pockets at Stella McCartney‘s Spring 2011 Fashion Presentation in New York yesterday – not on the runway, but in the audience. We’re huge fans of dresses with pockets, but the trend was out in full force on every attendee, whether they were in a skirt, dress, jeans or jumpsuit. Honestly, not a single person could resist hiding their hands for these photos. Two is a coincidence, three is a trend, and ten is like, a wart epidemic or something, what are these people hiding?

In the world of Hollywood feuding families (a la Tori and Candy, Jennifer and Nancy Aniston, Angelina Jolie and John Voight) it’s so nice to see a father-daughter duo getting along as nicely as Paul and Stella McCartney. The former Beatle was the ultimate supportive father at Stella’s Paris Fashion Week runway show yesterday, bringing along girlfriend Nancy Shevell, chatting with Stella’s BFF Gwyneth Paltrow, and snapping photos of his daughter’s collection with his cell phone camera. At the end of the show, which featured colorful florals for evening wear, as well as sleek lacy halter tops under jackets, grey jersey and denim stretches, Paul cheered and clapped the loudest. Awwwww! [Photos: Splash News Online]

Dropping your kids off at school when you a) live in one of the most exclusive areas of London and b) make your living as a fashion icon, is not the ordinary grab-those-jogging-bottoms and ignore-those-cornflakes-in-your-hair exercise that it would be for most harassed moms. No, Claudia Schiffer and Stella McCartney have standards to live up to, goddamnit, and turn up at the school gates looking freakishly goddess-like for 8am. Which is why we’re glad we’re not the other moms who share curb-space with them at this time – it must be so depressing.
Forget shoulderpads or a sparkly clutch, Liv Tyler is clearly the must-have accessory for a famous arm in 2009. The actress was out last night at the Met Costume gala with her A-lister friends including Agyness Deyn and Kate Bosworth, and also went out on the town last night at the Time 100 Gala with Kate Hudson and Stella McCartney. Posing up a storm for the attendant snappers, it’s clear that Liv is the go-to BFF for many a star, and we especially like the way it looks like Liv is taking little Kate B home after having one too many ginger beers. Although we’d like to make a sniffy comment about being a shallow Paris Hilton-style frivolous party girl, we can’t help thinking Liv looks like a lot of fun. Can we be your friend, too? We had our suspicions: When you’re marrying a billionaire, would you really be satisfied with a quick service in City Hall? Nah. And Salma Hayek‘s proved that her official wedding ceremony to super-super-super-rich Francois-Henri Pinault in February was only a taster for the real deal.
Celebrities like Bono, Charlize Theron, Penelope Cruz, Stella McCartney and Ashley Judd all descended on Venice this past weekend for an elegantly glamorous celebration. The couple and guests donned masks for a ball on Friday night and renewed their vows at the river city’s La Fenice opera house the next day. She may have claimed she wasn’t going to spend the cash on a “ridiculous” wedding ceremony only a few days ago, but after looking at the photos from these super-exclusive nuptials, we think Mrs Pinault may have been feeding the media a bit of a line. Cheeky! But congratulations (again). [Photo: Splash News Online]
Madonna forgot her adoption troubles last night for a few hours at least, when she stepped out for dinner at London’s swish Cecconi’s restaurant with pal Stella McCartney. The predictable hordes of photogs were on hand to snap the star – who performed the bizarre trick of actually looking tipsy before she went in and sober afterwards. On the left, Madonna arrives. On the right, Madonna departs with Stella. Huh. Still, good to see her letting her hair down again!
