Jessica Simpson confirmed the pregnancy we pretty much all knew about already with a tweet yesterday that read, “Merry Christmas from my family to yours!” accompanying a deadly cute photo of 7-month-old daughter Maxwell Drew in front of the words “Big Sis” written in the sand. It by far surpasses Simpson’s “Mummy” tweet from last Halloween, and also makes us really wish she’d been able to break this news herself, rather than some “friend” who sold the story to Us weeks ago.
UPDATE: Weight Watchers also let Jessica announce her new pregnancy in a 30-second ad, released today. “Being healthy has become a part of who I am, which is great timing, because I’m having another baby,” she says. (WW made sure to add a printed message on the ad that says, “Pregnant women are not eligible to join Weight Watchers. Jessica has stopped following the plan and intends to return after she gives birth.”)
The announcement made us think back to all the other varied ways in which celebrity moms announced their big news to the world in 2012. Here are some of our favorites:
Snooki’s “OMG! I’m Pregnant!” Us Weekly Headline: This is another one we pretty much already knew about before the story was published, but the fact that we could totally hear Snooki’s voice as we read that headline made it more unique than your typical pregnancy story sold to a tabloid.
Amber Rose Follows Beyonce’s Example: Following a couple of weeks of speculation, Amber accompanied Wiz Khalifa to the MTV VMAs this year in a lacy skintight gown and caressed her little bump on the red carpet, leaving no more doubt about their big news. Months later, it looked like Jenna Dewan-Tatum was doing the same red-carpet reveal in her flowy princess gown at VH1 DIVAS, but she and Channing Tatum decided to let us guess for a few more hours before going the typical publicist-to-magazine route.
Private isn’t a word most people associate with Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott. For example, remember when Dean accidentally tweeted a photo of Tori topless? Of course, we completely understand why the couple want to keep information about an emergency surgery on lock. On the other hand, when fans get accustomed to you tweeting every aspect of your lives and then you don’t tweet about a widely-reported medical emergency…yeah, you can understand why some people might have assumed something was drastically wrong.
Luckily for everyone, the Home Sweet Hollywood star and her hubbie are doing just fine. “Tori underwent emergency surgery over the weekend due to complications from her c-section,” Spelling’s rep told People. “She remains in the hospital and is resting comfortably.” Tori has had a total of four c-sections during just as many pregnancies, two falling within a single year. Tori’s last c-section was on August 30 when she delivered son Finn Davey and now we are losing consciousness due to how many times we’ve had to type “c-section.” Meanwhile, Dean responded this afternoon to frantic followers worried that something more dire was going on with his spouse. “She’s good. Just testing,” Dean finally reported on Twitter, “I didn’t want to alert the world. No TMZ knows. Was trying to keep it private.” Sorry guys! Meanwhile we’re going to give all the credit for Tori’s recovery to their baby…Dr. CoolBaby.

And that’s number four for Tori Spelling and hubby Dean McDermott. Tori gave birth to a baby boy yesterday and we know that he decided to make his grand entrance into the world at 5:39 in the evening and weighed in at 6 lbs., 6 oz. and is 20 inches long. How do we know all of this? Because an ecstatic Tori released the news on her website yesterday, and through it, also gave us the name of her newborn son. “Please join us in welcoming Finn Davey McDermott,” the message read adding all details of the time of birth and his vital statistics and signed off with “Love, Tori, Dean, Liam, Stella, and Hattie.” We love the name! There’s something old-school and charming about it, isn’t there? Little Finn joins his older siblings — Liam Aaron, 5, Stella Doreen, 4, and Hattie Margaret, who is only 10 months. That’s right, Tori announced her fourth pregnancy just five months after giving birth to Hattie! But hey — this looks like one very happy, burgeoning brood. We’re sending out major congratulations to the whole clan! Yay for baby Finn! We can’t wait to see a picture soon. We’re hoping Tori or Dean (or both) tweet one ASAP!

We begin staring at them, wondering if they’re merely the result of a big burrito lunch; then, soon enough, we marvel at their size in proportion to their petite carriers and placing bets on when they’ll pop — yes, we’re talking baby bumps. Particularly those sported by our favorite pregnant celebrities. It’s fascinating how some famous ladies, like Megan Fox and Gisele Bunchen, play coy for months, hiding behind cleverly draped dresses or simply ignoring questions when we know they’d never allow themselves to acquire food babies like the rest of us. Others, like Snooki, Tori Spelling and Vanessa Lachey, flaunt their bumps like crazy, posting pics on Twitter, posing in front of the paps in revealing outfits. To each her own!
But once again, we’d like to make their beautiful maternal bodies into a fun little game to while away your summer afternoon. Guess the celebrity baby bump! And don’t cheat by studying the thumbnails here; that’s just silly.

Celebrities have never been shy about showing off their bodies, vacations or friends on Twitter, and sometimes they really go over the line. But there’s one thing they can never share enough of, if you ask us: babies pictures! Earlier this week, Victoria’s Secret supermodel Lily Aldridge gave us the first glimpse of her nearly 1-month-old daughter with husband and Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill, Dixie Pearl. Dixie’s Twitter debut features her tiny feet in pink, bunny rabbit footie pajamas. Can we get a resounding awwww? There is no mistaking that this pic is precious, but it does come as a bit of a tease. When do we get to see this little munchkin’s face?
Following in the footsteps of Lily and other celebs who have chosen to announce the birth of their children via Twitter, Curly Sue star Alisan Porter didn’t waste any time tweeting a pic of her baby boy, Mason, born only yesterday. Other stars like Hilary Duff, Jessica Simpson and Alessandra Ambrosio have also recently introduced their bundles of joy on Twitter. These adorable twitpics confirm that celebrities’ children are truly genetically blessed and living the G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S life. We look forward to the possibility of a future modeling or acting career for these youngsters, but for now, we are just happy to get to see their lovable looks. Take a look at some of the cutest celebrity baby Twitpics. They are bound to melt your heart!
We saw a few photos of Jennie Garth this week looking really good for someone who’s currently going through a divorce — maybe a little too good around the eyes, if you know what we mean. Of course, that made us wonder how the rest of the original flavor Beverly Hills, 90210 gang is doing these days. They’ve certainly gone through a lot of changes since the first episode of aired in October 1990. Some, like Garth and Shannen Doherty, went on to have other successful series on TV (What I Like About You and Charmed, respectively). Others, like Luke Perry and Jason Priestley, didn’t exactly see their careers take off like we expected. Gabrielle Carteris and Tori Spelling have had a good run as moms, both on and off the air. And we’re still waiting to see when Brian Austin Green and wife Megan Fox will announce her bun in the oven. Regardless of where their careers are these days (where is it, Ian Ziering?), we are pleased to report that most of the former residents of that famed zip code are still looking their sunny, attractive selves. And since we began writing this post, that guitar riff has not left our heads, so we’ll always have that. Anyway, check out this gallery of the kids from Beverly Hills High School both back in the day and now.

Tori Spelling is no baby when it comes to giving birth, which is why she’s gearing up to do it again…for the fourth time…only five months after having a daughter this past fall! “Dean, Liam, Stella, Hattie, and I are beyond thrilled to announce that another little McDermott is on the way!,” Tori posted to her blog today, in addition to a photo of her current children’s adorably chubby hands rubbing her belly. “We feel truly blessed that another angel has found us.” Wow, hats off to you Tori and (to a slightly lesser degree) Dean McDermott, for willing to go through pregnancy and labor again already. We cry when we have to pull a Band-Aid off our arm hair, is all we’re saying. Though we guess the difference is, Tori gets an adorable baby out of her situation and we just get wrinkly weird Band-Aid skin…
It was actually not even a year ago that Tori announced her pregnancy with baby Hattie, who arrived in October. We’re guessing every pregnancy comes with some new knowledge of some kind. Let’s hope this one teaches Tori’s hubbie how to not tweet topless photos of his breast-feeding wife. May #4 be the lucky number, you two!
What did we do before celebrities found out about Twitter? Whether it’s hot bodies in bikinis, hot bodies out of bikinis, scabs, famous people without makeup or ill-advised tattoos, 2011 was a great year for celebrity TMI tweets. Everyone from Gaga and Kanye to Katy Perry and Mariah Carey wanted to share the inside of their hearts (and pants and bathroom stalls) with the world. Not that we want them to stop, mind you! Not like we would ever want them to stop. In the meantime, check out the 28 Best TwitPics of 2011: Because you can’t untweet something once it’s been tweeted, no matter how hard you try.

Things are probably…not great around the McDermott-Spelling household right now. We’re assuming life must hard enough for Dean McDermott and Tori Spelling, what with new-born Hattie Margaret joining the family last month. All the crying, the constant breast feeding, and the non-stop diaper explosions must be exhausting, but hey, at least there aren’t any accidental topless photos of Tori floating around Twitter. Oh wait.
Last night Spelling’s husband tweeted a pic of their adorable son Liam going sticker-crazy, but somehow failed to notice that Tori is particularly nude in the background. Even more inexplicably, as of this afternoons the photo is still up! Are Tori and Dean both so sleep deprived that they haven’t realized the entire planet is currently checking out Tori’s goodies? If they’re sleepy, we hope they sleep. Sleep as long as they can before they realize what happened and lose their exhausted minds.
Here’s what we think happened: Tori Spelling heard about the birth of Johnny Knoxville’s daughter last week, so not to be outdone she kicked her pregnancy into overdrive. That’s how it works, right? In any event, Tori and her husband Dean McDermott welcomed a new member to their family yesterday morning! “Our family’s so happy 2 announce [that on] 10/10/11 baby girl Hattie Margaret McDermott was born at 7:08am! Xoxo,” the new mother tweeted. She also attached a squee-inducing photo of the little bundle’s feet. The couple announced that they were “expecting” back in April, but vowed not to learn the gender of the baby until the big day. In addition to the newborn, the reality show stars have a 3-year old daughter Stella and a 4-year-old son Liam, as well as Dean’s teenage son Jack from a previous marriage. Congrats!
