New Girl Fashion Cap “Models”: Promising Ballerinas & Monkey Crackers

New Girls Models Recap

New Girl reached a new height of adorableness last night with an ep that focused primarily on Jess and CeCe’s sweet lady friendship, though we did have to deal with the absurdity of a world where Zooey Deschanel is considering ridiculous compared to models. Let’s be honest: Zooey Deschanel is straight-up one of the hottest ladies on the planet. Don’t believe us? Please check out the outfit she wore out the club last night. Please.

New Girl Fashion Cap “Neighbors”: Schmidt Tries To Start An Arcade Fire Via Ironic T

New Girl Fashion Recap Neighbors

Are we right in thinking that New Girl just keeps getting better and better every week? Last night’s episode “Neighbors” introduced Jess and the gang to the new, marginally younger crowd that moved into the building: Chaz, Fife, Sutton and Brory. It wasn’t until we saw the new neighbor’s half-shirts and florescent sweatshirts that we realized how good Schmidt, Winston and Jess typically dress. (Nick doesn’t count; he’s a 30-year-old 90-year-old.) Did the new neighbors’ young people fashion looks seem dead-on to you, or did they make you roll your eyes in contempt for the New Girl wardrobe department? Were you rolling your eyes while wearing headphones and a handmade feather clip? Are you one of them?

New Girl Fashion Cap “Re-Launch” & “Katie”: Jess Is Back, Her Wardrobe More Amazing Than Ever

Zooey Deschanel New Girl

Are we the only ones who want to enter the world of Fox’s New Girl and steal Zooey Deschanel‘s entire wardrobe, along with her glasses, hair and/or skin? Or are we the only ones brave enough to admit it? Chew on that, clowns! Are New Girl’s Nick And Jess The Niles And Daphne Of Our Time? Jake Johnson Weighs In

You should be very excited to watch the Do Something Awards next Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET. Besides the fact that it’s a nice chance to see celebrities celebrated for more than just who they’re dating or what they starred in, the show is hosted by three of the most charming men on TV these days, New Girl stars Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield and Lamorne Morris. And when VH1 News’ Kate Spencer had a chance to sit down with the guys on recently, she couldn’t resist to make this very astute observation about the will-they-or-won’t-they dynamic of Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Johnson): They are just like Niles and Daphne from Frasier.

David Hyde Pierce and Jane Leeves as Niles and Daphne on Frasier

“Niles and Daphne is a great reference! Yeah, but I think I’m a little bit more masculine than Niles. No disrespect to Niles,” Johnson responded. Though he was quick to add: “Do not compare Zooey Deschanel to Daphne. You can call me Niles.”

Emmy Nominations: Girls, Downton, Zooey And More Make This A Competition We Actually Care About

Zooey Deschanel, Michelle Dockery and Lena Dunham

When we planned this post, before Scandal’s Kerry Washington and a pajama-wearing Jimmy Kimmel announced the 64th Primetime Emmy nominations, we thought we’d make this list short and sweet. Traditionally, this is an awards show that ignores our faves and gives all the kudos to the shows our parents love. But then we got a very pleasant surprise and discovered we actually care about almost all of the nominees. Maybe the Emmy voters are finally getting younger and hipper. Or maybe really good TV is back in a place where everyone can agree on the shows that CAN’T be ignored.

Our longtime obsession Mad Men and new addiction American Horror Story lead the pack with a whopping 17 nominations apiece. Downton Abbey’s got 16 nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series and acting nods for Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery, Brendan Coyle, Jim Carter, Maggie Smith and Joanne Froggatt. Of course, HBO is a dominating force once again, but we can’t complain when that means Game of Thrones has 11 nods and Girls has five nods — for Outstanding Comedy, writing, directing, casting and, naturally, Lead Actress Lena Dunham. Speaking of girls, New Girl’s Zooey Deschanel and Max Greenfield are nominated. As expected, Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, 30 Rock and Modern Family also have tons of nominations, but we love them just the same.

After last year’s moving speech, Melissa McCarthy has another shot at Lead Comedy Actress (she’s up against Dunham, Deschanel, Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Edie Falco and Veep’s Julia Louis-Dreyfuss). We’re also excited about another of other favorite ladies: Connie Britton for American Horror Story. Also, Blossom is back! Mayim Bialik‘s role on Big Bang Theory earned her a Supporting Actress nod. Among the leading ladies in drama, Dockery is competing with Julianna Margulies, Claire Danes, Kathy Bates, Elisabeth Moss and Glenn Close.

In the male comedy category, there’s one guy we’re rooting for, for the potential hilarity of his acceptance speech alone: Louis C.K.! He’s got to beat big shots like Larry David, Jon Cryer, Jim Parsons, Alec Baldwin and Don Cheadle first, though. If the Earl of Grantham wants to take home a statuette, he’ll have to defeat the likes of Steve Buscemi, Bryan Cranston, Michael C. Hall, Jon Hamm and Damian Lewis. We confess, our loyalties are completely divided there.

Check out our gallery of favorite nominees above, and a more complete list below. And let us know which shows you’ll be rooting for when the Emmys air on Sunday, September 23.

Jessica Biel, Maria Sharapova, Zooey Deschanel Vie For Best-Dressed At The ESPY Awards

2012 ESPY Best-Dressed List

Of all the athletes and celebrities who attended the ESPY Awards yesterday at the Nokia Theatre in L.A., seven beautiful ladies really stood out from all the rest. We’ll start with Jessica Biel who nailed it in a retro, flirty, white Christian Dior Resort 2013 mini-dress. We loved the slightly bouffant ponytail and the ankle-strap Nicholas Kirkwood for Roksanda Ilincic Spring 2012 heels with the lime green soles. Hayden Panettiere went old Hollywood-glam in a sparkling, strapless Giorgio Armani column with side-swept hair. We loved the fact that she didn’t go with the expected red lip and went for glowing, sun-kissed skin instead. Then there was the gamine Zooey Deschanel in a bedazzled, gold Oscar de la Renta frock and Edie Parker clutch with a red belt and Sergio Rossi pumps. Very different from the minimal purple Armani gown Olivia Munn wore with Bvlgari jewels. You can’t have an ounce of extra weight to pull that off! Major props to Maria Sharapova as well, who looked stunning in a cornflower blue J. Mendel Resort 2013 gown. There’s more to this list, but you’re going to have to look through our gallery for all the looks. Do tell us who you think deserves the best-dressed title.

Lucy Liu, Emmy Rossum, Julianne Moore, Sarah Hyland Among 2012 Critics’ Choice Television Awards 10 Best-Dressed

10 Best-Dressed At 2012 Critics Choice Television Awards

What a pretty, diverse red carpet this was yesterday. The 2012 Critics’ Choice Television Awards happened at the Beverly Hills Hotel, in L.A. and a lot of different styles and silhouettes were represented through all the fashion present. There was the dramatic, flowing gown courtesy Emmy Rossum‘s metallic Donna Karan number and Neil Lane jewelry. We had the sexy, plunging gown with Busy Phillips‘ Michael Kors black dress. Loved the use of turquoise accents through her Irene Neuwirth necklace and ring, as well. We had romantic, vintage looks with Zooey Deschanel‘s blood orange, full-skirted Oscar de la Renta dress and Alison Brie‘s ’40′s inspired frock, also by de la Renta.

Other best-dressed picks included Sarah Hyland‘s flirty, youthful frock by Collette Dinnigan, and her Modern Family co-star Ariel Winter, who looked just lovely in a white, tiered dress, also by the same designer. Coincidence, much?  Lucy Liu‘s girly pale pink gown by Atelier Versace made quite an impression too. But, the sexiest look of the night, by far, goes to Julianne Moore who worked it in a black-and-white bodycon dress by Jason Wu. Her nude Walter Steiger strappy heels worked beautifully with her outfit as well. Special mention also goes to the very toned Regina King, who also wore blood orange like Zooey, but in a shorter, lacy Romona Keveza version. If your interest is piqued, then get thee to the gallery!

The Billboard Music Awards Have Their Fair Share Of Worst-Dressed Celebrities

Worst Dressed At The Billboard Music Awards

Where there is a best-dressed, there has to be a worst-dressed. It’s the yin and yang of a red carpet. You’re already aware of the Miley Cyrus tuxedo disaster at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards? She had good bad company at the event, as well. Here’s the thing about Katy Perry‘s flowing lavender Blumarine gown. It would have been great if it had taken it down a notch in the shine department. It looks almost synthetic, and that deep plum lipstick feels wrong with it. Julianne Hough‘s gold sequin Kaufman Franco dress suffered from the same problem. It also looked like an embellished towel wrapped around her body, though we feel a little more makeup may have suited this look.

Sticking to the shimmer department was Julie Bowen‘s Doo.Ri strapless dress. It looked ill-fitting, and that one shining panel down the front didn’t do wonders for her, especially with her clunky heels. We actually liked Zooey Deschanel‘s sparkly Moschino number, even though it was badly fitted, but she ruined the lightness of the outfit by adding those black tights. Lacey Scwhimmer‘s shimmery panelled dress just went straight to tacky — and what was up with those candy-colored hair extensions? Normally, embellished gowns do well at awards shows. Not so much the case at this event, as you can see.

Another misstep came from Nelly Furtado. The label of the dress was all right — Alberta Ferretti. But the white crochet translated pretty badly on her body, making her look boxy, when we know that Nelly isn’t. Sticking to the same color scheme was Amber Rose who really needs to be told that there is no harm in going up a size. Too tight, Amber! Way too tight! She looked like she was about to spill out any moment. But, as always, the final verdict lies with you. What do you think of the ensembles? Take a look at the gallery below and give us your opinions.

Fox’s Upfront Presentation Brings Out TV’s Top Players: Britney, Lea, Demi, Mila And Co.

Fox Upfront Presentation 2012

Around the same time that the NBC stars were celebrating their new fall lineup, Fox’s Upfront presentation for advertisers was also happening in NYC. Both channels brought in their bigtime stars, but we feel Fox may just have inched ahead. This was also, in part, because of the news we published yesterday that Britney Spears and Demi Lovato were officially named as the newest judges on The X Factor.

But they were, by no means, not the only stars who came to the presentation. Fellow The X Factor judges Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid were also there. A ton of the Glee cast showed up as well. Lea Michele led the way in a lovely, delicate Pucci dress with Casadei shoes and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. Naya Rivera wore the one mullet dress we’ve ever liked, a Lublu number that she paired with Giuseppe Zanotti shoes. Jenna Ushkowitz wore a summery Rebecca Minkoff design, completing the trio of ladies from the show. Cory Monteith, Chris Colfer and Darren Criss represented the show’s dudes. New Girl star Zooey Deschanel was also there in a Carven dress and Miu Miu heels, as was her co-star Hannah Simone. And surprise surprise, a casually dressed Mila Kunis came for the event as well. Take a look at all of them, in the gallery below.
