Fantasia Gets Real About Suicide Attempt On Behind The Music

Well, that was quick: in a new episode of Behind the Music that’s set to air tomorrow (Tuesday, August 23), Fantasia is already opening up about her overdose that happened earlier this month. In a recently filmed interview, she makes clear that the overdose was not a mistake, stating, “I just sat in the closet and looked at the mirror and took all the pills in the bottle. I wanted to go to sleep and just be at peace. I knew exactly what I was doing. You can’t accidentally take a whole bottle of pills.” She also touches on her affair with Antwaun Cook (“When I met him, he was separated”), as well as her emotional recovery from the suicide attempt: “My nurse Melanie was a blessing into my life because she didn’t tell me what I wanted to hear. She told me what I needed to hear. And she looked at me and said, ‘You gotta get up, and you’ve gotta get out of here, ’cause you haven’t fulfilled your destiny.’” [People]

For months, Lady Gaga and Ke$ha have been competing to see who can don the kookiest duds, while Tila Tequila and The Situation are still locked in a battle to see who can flash the most orangey-day-glo skin while crossing the red carpet. Meanwhile, Lindsay Lohan and Amy Winehouse are trying to see who can be the first to make their liver flee their body in fear and, weirdly enough, Tom Cruise is cool again. There’s no denying it, being crazy is “in” this season! We even hear that it’s impossible to even get a table at a good restaurant in L.A. these days without dressing in a leather gimp suit, speaking Swahili, and tipping the maître d’ with bits of string. Hollywood is locked in an arms race of “crazy.”

Send Bret Michaels Well-Wishes, Watch Them Air On Behind The Music

In the five days since Bret Michaels was admitted to the hospital after suffering a massive brain hemorrhage, over 400 of you have left well-wishes for Bret in the comments section of our blog. As a way to show our collective support for Bret as he valiantly fights to recover, VH1 will be airing a selection of reader comments during our special re-airing of his Behind The Music this Thursday, April 29 at 11 p.m./10c.

If you would like to share your sentiments about Bret with everyone who’ll be watching his Behind The Music episode, all you have to do is leave a comment below sometime before this special broadcast airs tomorrow night. Bret Michaels Upgraded To “Stable” Condition; VH1 To Re-Air His Behind The Music Special

Bret Michaels isn’t out of the woods just yet, but there is a bit of good news to share. US Magazine is reporting that while Michaels is still under observation in the Intensive Care Unit of an unnamed hospital, his condition has been upgraded from “critical” to “stable” condition. As you no doubt know, he has been hospitalized since suffering a massive brain hemorrhage last Friday.
