About the Show

For the first time this Mother's Day VH1 put the spotlight on the most important women in the world -- our Moms. "Dear Mama" was not a typical honors show -- the stars stepped aside and put their mothers center stage to celebrate the women who sacrificed so much for their success.

Anthony Anderson (ABC’s "Blackish") kicked off VH1’s Mother’s Day celebration as the host, and will honored his hilarious mom, Doris Bowman. Vocal powerhouse Alicia Keys honored her mother Terria Joseph, an actor and single parent, with her song “If I Ain’t Got You.” Multifaceted superstar Queen Latifah performed a special tribute to honor her mother Rita Owens, a single mother and former high school teacher in Newark, New Jersey. Willow, Jaden and Trey Smith joined the mom-fest to honor Hollywood powerhouse Jada Pinkett-Smith. Will Smith got the crowd laughing with a hilarious story about his wife, and surprised her with a show-stopping medley by Mary J. Blige. Talented singer Rita Ora spoke of the bravery of her mother, Vera, and Toronto singer-songwriter Alessia Cara performed her hit "Wild Things" as a tribute to her mom, Enza Caracciolo. Boyz II Men made all the moms feel special when they closed out the show with their classic hit “A Song For Mama.” Happy Mother’s Day to our VH1 family!
