Happy Mother's Day

Watch The Best Moments

Monday, May 08, 2017

This year, Dear Mama returned to VH1 to bring sweet family moments, exciting surprises and incredible performances to The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens in Pasadena, California. The Event To Honor Moms did just that – put the most important women in our lives in the spotlight as your favorite stars showed the world how much they cared.

Our hosts La La Anthony & Anthony Anderson kicked off the show with a hilarious mama off to prove once and for all who had the best mom, and throughout the night everyone proved how special each of their moms are. Mary J. Blige thanked her mother, Cora Blige, for raising her to be a strong woman, and surprised her by Gladys Knight performing "Midnight Train To Georgia." DJ Khaled gave us an inside look at his fiancee, Nicole "The Best Mom" Tuck, and honored her with the help of baby Asahd. Plus, he brought out another surprise, with Jodeci performing "Forever My Lady."

And the surprises didn't stop there! Anthony Anderson put on a choreographed performance of Bruno Mars' "That's What I Like" for his co-host, La La, who was praised as a mother by her best friend, Kelly Rowland. Robin Thicke's mom, Gloria Loring, joined him in his medley performance of her hit songs, while Chris Paul shared how his mother, Robin Paul, shaped his basketball career.

More than anything, the night reminded us of the strength of women. Halle Berry shared the important mission of The Jenesse Center, a non-profit organization that supports victims of spousal abuse. We heard a powerful story from a graduate of the program, Yesica Mendoza, who thanked Berry for her work with the organization. Ludacris thanked his own supportive mother, Roberta Shields, for her charity work with The Ludacris Foundation, and Maxwell closed out the show with a special performance of his hit, "Fortunate," which he dedicated to everyone's mom.

The love in the room was felt all night long. Make sure you hug your mama, and Happy Mother's Day!
