Lots of VH1.com users asked artists about which CDs and films they loved in 2002. Here's an array of answers, stretching from Norah Jones subtle piano to Clipse's hard beats. We're going to be adding more artist responses over the next several days, so come back to see more faves from your faves.
JOHN MAYER
Q: What was your most memorable moment and biggest accomplishment of 2002?
A:The first time I played The Tonight Show, and playing that many shows in one year.
Q: What was your favorite album of the year?
A:Coldplay's A Rush Of Blood To The Head.
Q: If you could change one thing, what would it be?
A: When you sell two million records and make great strides in locking down your career in about 12 months, the only thing you would change comes down to like, say your diet, and I don't even want to change that because the McRib is back and don't I know it.

KID ROCK
Q: What city did you enjoy the most on your tour this year?
A: Nashville was great. So was North Carolina and Madison Square Garden. But no one can f*ck with a Detroit audience! Backstage is a nightmare in your home town.
Q: You're the best performer ever. But if you could do it all over again what would you do different?
A: I know. Thank you (just kidding). Nothing.
SHERYL CROW
Q: How did you rock 2002?
A: I guess it was by making a rock record in the classic sense of the word, with guitars and songs that hopefully said something. We basically went out and rocked in the true sense. It wasn’t based on beats and it wasn’t based on a dance groove, so it’s great that people are responding to it.
Q: Did you have fun making all those sports-oriented videos?
A: I usually hate the video-making process - it’s hard work. If you’re not really comfortable having a camera in your face, making videos can be a long, drawn-out process. But these videos were a blast. We made "Soak Up the Sun" in Hawaii and I got to learn how to surf. Since then I’ve gotten a long board and have been surfing in a lot of different places like Huntington Beach and Malibu. The "Steve McQueen" video was fun because I got to ride a dirt bike and I haven’t ridden one since I was in my teens!
Q: What’s it been like touring with the Rolling Stones?
A: I’m always excited to do anything with the Rolling Stones. I’m still a huge fan. Every night that you see them play they do something different; you got to be there for each show. So getting to open for them is a dream come true. For me and my band, it’s also a real glimpse into what rock ‘n’ roll used to be like, where you went out and played for two-and-a-half hours and every song was a hit and the audience was there from beginning to end. It’s a real great adventure for us to tour with the Stones.
Q: What does 2003 hold for you?
A: I would like to get together a lot of artists and do a tour where kids don’t have to pay so much money just to see a rock concert. I want to do a tour where they don’t have to pay $30 for parking and $8 for a beer. I think there is a way to get a bunch of artists together and bypass the way rock has been turned into a crazy money-making, screw-the-fans venture.
JON BON JOVI
Q: What are your fondest memories of 2002?
A: The best part of the year was obviously the birth of my son, Jacob. He's a great reason to keep on keeping on.
Q: How has having a family changed you as a rock star? Are you more aware of what kids listen to these days?
A: I hear what I hear on VH1 and MTV. I can't relate to some.. and love others. Eminem is really great. Avril Levigne is cool for little kids. Pink is really wonderful, as is John Mayer, Norah Jones... of course Matchbox 20, The Wallflowers, etc. But the Nelly, Ja Rule, J-Lo isn't me...
Q: If you could relive any moment in 2002, what would it be?
A: Professionally, I guess it would be playing in NYC's Times Square to 500,000 people, then choppering to Giants Stadium to play half-time. I caught a few hours sleep, then hit the Concorde to London for a satellite club broadcast across Europe from a small club. Not a bad day.
FOO FIGHTERS
Taylor Hawkins: My favorite record of 2002 is our record!
Dave Grohl: Beck’s Sea Change is my favorite. And Coldplay’s A Rush of Blood to the Head is so classic.
Hawkins: Queens of the Stone Age’s Songs for the Deaf is really good. It’s got a cool sound, and doesn’t sound like any other record. The new Supergrass album, Life on Other Planets, isn’t out in America yet but it will be soon. It’s really great, just like all their other records.
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE
I really liked Coldplay’s A Rush of Blood to the Head and I liked The Eminem Show. Those were great albums.
MATCHBOX TWENTY
Paul Doucette: The Wilco album Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is my favorite of the year, without a doubt. A really close second is the "About a Boy" soundtrack. I actually got married to it.
Rob Thomas: I don’t think I got any records this year. When did Elvis Costello’s When I Was Cruel come out? This year? I’ve just been listening to nothing but old records. The record of the year for me right now has been Led Zeppelin IV.
CRAIG DAVID
My favorite record of the year was Vanessa Carlton’s. I like the whole piano, song-based tracks that were coming from her. She’s bringing something new to the table and it seems to be one of those things that people are really starting to connect with. As far as movies go, I thought "Minority Report" was really good. If you could just kind of preempt a lot of things in life, I think it’d be perfect. If only I could see at Christmas time that by eating that Christmas pudding, I would have run 15 miles the next day to burn it off, that would have been something I would have loved for someone to have said to me!
BUSTA RHYMES
My favorite albums right now are Missy Elliott’s Under Construction album and Eminem’s The Eminem Show. Missy's album is incredible. Those were the type of old-school joints that inspired everything you love these days. I was too young to appreciate it. I love Missy for that. The disc is a great fundamental hip-hop schooling to the now generation.
DAMON DASH
Norah Jones’ Come Away with Me was my favorite album of the year. She’s hot. Her album actually gave me hope. It was like, wow! Good music can live.
LAURA PAUSINI
My favorite album of the year was Red Hot Chili Peppers’ By the Way. My favorite movie was "Road to Perdition". I thought it was a little bit slow in the beginning, but then I cried. Tom Hanks is my favorite actor! "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" was pretty nice. It had a low budget and no big expectations. That’s the best success you can have!
THE ROOTS
Black Thought: I like the Clipse’s Lord Willin’ and the revisited N*E*R*D album, In Search Of … The Neptunes mandate what radio sounds like right now. They have their hands in quite a few different pots. We were talking about making our next record a whole all-out collaboration with them. I also liked the White Stripes’ White Blood Cells, the Vines’ Highly Evolved, and Norah Jones’ joint. My favorite movie this year was "Paid in Full." I loved "Paid in Full."
?uestlove: I definitely like the N*E*R*D record. Technically, she came out late last year, but I liked Res’ How I Do a lot. There’s so many! Favorite movie? I haven’t seen it yet, but I know I’m going to love "Punch-Drunk Love."
FAT JOE
The last album I really loved was The Best of Both Worlds by Jay-Z and R. Kelly. That’s a classic, phenomenal. It there hadn’t have been any controversy about R. Kelly, it would have gone down in history. I also loved Marc Anthony’s English album, Mended.
FC KAHUNA
Jon Nowell: I like The Streets’ Original Pirate Material.
Dan Ormondroyd: I’m getting off on the Coral’s album at the moment. I think it’s because I yearn for a new La’s album. There are certain tracks that could be the La’s. Primal Scream’s new album Evil Heat is really doing it for me. It tickles all the parts that need tickling. I think it’s just mind blowing.
SPEEDO, ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT
My favorite album of the year was the Clone defects record, Blood on Jupiter. It’s pretty much punk music, but it has a quality that it gets under your skin and really makes you feel dirty after you listen to it. I don’t know what they’re into; they’re probably into the Electric Eels and the Pagans, and maybe the Dead Boys, just really early, proto-punk stuff. My movie of the year was "24 Hour Party People."
LEIGH NASH, SIXPENCE NONE THE RICHER
The best power pop record of the year is Phantom Planet. I also love Coldplay’s A Rush of Blood to the Head album, the two Tom Waits albums - Alice and Blood Money - and the Flaming Lips’ Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. Being a girl, I saw "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" five times! I had to keep taking new family members and friends to it because I loved it so much. I liked Lovely and Amazing, too.
