Andy Dick's Dance-Off, Santino's Schmoozing And More Things You Didn't See At The MTV Movie Awards
Use our backstage pass to see Matt Dillon bond with Flavor Flav, Jamie Foxx get ignored.

If the Golden Globes are the less stiff version of the Oscars, then the MTV Movie Awards are, well, a kegger. And that means that the best stuff happens near the bar — and anywhere else the cameras are not.
Fortunately, since it's MTV's
party, we were able to score the same backstage pass as all the VIPs. And with that, we were peeping celebrities like Superman going all X-ray vision on Lois Lane.
And speaking of the Man of Steel, the Movie Awards were Brandon Routh's first high-profile Hollywood party, so of course he hit the backstage bash, a.k.a. the Amber Room (thanks to sponsor Neutrogena). Routh, with his girlfriend, Courtney, on his arm, was overheard telling a fellow Iowan that he had talked Warner Bros. into screening "Superman Returns" in Des Moines. More interesting, though, is the dude sounds just like Christopher Reeve.
Meanwhile, seems Lex Luthor rolls deep. While most of the big names were gone faster than a speeding bullet, Kevin Spacey stayed in the Amber Room well into the night.
Still, the room undisputedly belonged to Andy Dick, who at one point formed a dance-floor circle (where there was no true dance floor) to challenge willing parties to a krump-off.
Dick also made quite the scene on the red carpet (which was actually blue) when he dropped enough F-bombs to call in a weapons inspector during an E! interview that he abruptly cut short. A few frightened journalists looked on in disgust, but those in the know got a good laugh. The E! interviewer was actually "Grey's Anatomy" star Katherine Heigl, who was shooting ad-libbed scenes for her new movie "Knocked Up," directed by Dick's friend Judd Apatow of "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" fame.
In between takes, Apatow worked double duty and knocked out a few interviews with some of the movie press around him — the same film geeks who had a heyday with the never camera-shy Brett Ratner ("X-Men: The Last Stand"), who was parading around Jessica Alba's identical twin (not really) down the carpet.
Award-show arrivals are always a prime spot for networking, and no one learned this more than Santino Rice, the "Project Runway" finalist who designed SuChin Pak's Movie Awards dress. Before he even set foot on the carpet, he was stopped on the Sony Studios lot by guest reporter Pete Wentz. The Fall Out Boy bassist told the stylist that he often dedicates a song to him and that he wants Santino to dress him at award shows from now on. "It's cool to actually meet a dude I'm into," Pete was overheard saying later.
Santino was also cornered later by "Hostel" director Eli Roth, who told him a long story about how the first time he met Quentin Tarantino, the "Kill Bill" director insisted they watch "Project Runway" and deconstruct Santino's character.
Also swapping stories in the Amber Room was another odd couple, Flavor Flav and Matt Dillon, who bonded over God knows what for a good five minutes.
Jamie Foxx, meanwhile, showed a little appreciation for "Scary Movie" queen Anna Faris outside the party. The Oscar winner approached Faris and introduced himself to the stunned spoof star, and the two chatted and laughed for several minutes. Just as he was rolling back inside, Foxx spotted Rosario Dawson, but she didn't seem to notice him. "Oh, is that how it is?" he yelled.
Justin Timberlake, who had Rihanna's knees shaking earlier (see "Rihanna, MTV Movie Awards Guest-Reporter, Conquers Nerves, Timberlake"), skipped the Amber Room, but before he and his entourage sped off on a golf cart, he stopped the driver and ran up to "The New World" star Q'Orianka Kilcher and said, "I just wanted to tell you how talented and amazing you are."
Movie Awards first-timer Amanda Bynes got some help from a veteran when it came to hitting the official VIP soiree. The "She's the Man" star was rolling through the party with notorious celeb watcher and online gossip columnist Perez Hilton, who did all of his interviews old-school, with a notepad rather than a recording device.
Dax Sheppard may have finally gotten "Punk'd" himself. The former prankster-turned-actor lost his pass to the Amber Room and had to get a little help from friends and MTV staff to get past security.
Gnarls Barkley, dressed in full-on "Star Wars" regalia, literally ran into AFI backstage after their performance of "Crazy." The rockers, looking rather theatrical themselves, kindly congratulated the Imperial Guard/ strings section.
While Isla Fisher ("Wedding Crashers") hit the carpet alone, she was never seen backstage without fiance Sacha Baron Cohen, who in turn was never seen breaking character as Kazakhstani TV reporter Borat.
Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves walked the carpet together, prompting at least one audience member to confuse the longtime friends for a married couple. "No, [my husband's] name is Jesse [James]. I'm married to him," she corrected.
One of the first celebs to arrive on the carpet, Cindy Margolis, avoided an embarrassing photo line moment when a talent escort pointed out a wet spot on her dress.
Earlier at the unofficial gifting suites (a.k.a. swag parties), few of the Movie Awards nominees or presenters were spotted, but plenty of other celebs made the rounds.
At Jayneoni Moore's Boom Boom Room, it was all baby and girl stuff with lots of attitude, and Shar Jackson, "The Hills"/ "Laguna Beach" star Lauren "L.C." Conrad and Kelly Hu were among those picking up freebies like the "Mommy Needs a Time Out" T-shirts, Rudechix's "My Mom Can Kickbox Your Mom" onesies, L'ovedbaby nursing shawls, Bumkins' Dr. Seuss blankets and Pixel Pieces' guitar-logoed get-ups.
Meanwhile, the House of Hype in Beverly Hills was all for the dudes, minus the scantily clad ladies scattered around the pool (and likely getting paid to do just that). Good Charlotte, Nick Cannon and Randy Jackson were among those playing video games, smoking cigars and grabbing free gear from the likes of Five Four jeans, Howe Denim's Cowboy Funk shirts, Giantto watches and VTech phones.
