Robyn Set To Headline The O Music Awards 2 On Halloween Night

If you’re bummed that Halloween falls on a Monday this year, thereby lessening the chances that the party that you attend will be an all-night rager, we have a message for you: Don’t be. (Bummed, that is.) Your friends at VH1 have a foolproof backup plan for you. Dress up in your Halloween finest on Saturday night, spend all day Sunday recuperating from your hangover, pass out candy to the little ones on Monday evening, then get ready for the main event, coming to you direct in the comfort of your very own living room. Because on Monday, October 31 at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 PT, none other than Robyn (!!!) will be headlining the O Music Awards 2! New York, NY, October 25, 2011 ? Viacom Music Group, a unit of Viacom Inc. (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), today announced that international pop superstar and digital music pionner Robyn will serve as the headliner of O Music Awards 2, www.omusciawards.com, the live multiplatform event that celebrates the artists, innovators and fans impacting digital music culture. Robyn will wow the unsuspecting crowd with a number of performances, including songs from her hit album, Body Talk, from an undisclosed location in Los Angeles on October 31st beginning 11:30pm ET/ 8:30pm PT on OMusicAwards.com. In a true multiscreen taker, Robyn?s opening performance will be broadcast on MTV. The event will utilize Viacom Music Group?s multiple screens and made available across Viacom Music Group websites (MTV.com, VH1.com, CMT.com, LogoTV.com and MTVHive.com), as well as mobile.

In memoriam of Apple co-founder, chairman and chief executive officer Steve Jobs, O Music Awards 2 will feature a special musical tribute with The Flaming Lips performing an iconic song to pay homage to his immense contributions to digital music culture.

Additional presenters and performers include Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, Alabama Shakes, Odd Future?s Tyler the Creator, Travie McCoy, Midi Mafia and DJ Diamond Kits.

Since voting began on September 27, more than 12 million votes have been cast. Fans can continue to vote via the O Music Awards site, www.omusicawards.com. The fan that drives the most votes will appear in the live show.

In addition, fans can participate via the O Music Awards Facebook page, Twitter, and Tumblr.

Battling it out for the most nominations are artists that run the gamut from web sensations to pop royalty to an outspoken legend. Leading with two nominations each are Odd Future?s Tyler the Creator (Most Outrageous Tweet and Best Web Born Artist), Lady Gaga (Fan Army FTW and Must Follow Artist on Twitter), The Weeknd (Best Web-Born Artist and Too Much Ass for TV), Katy Perry (Best Lyrics Video and Best Artist with a Cameraphone), Justin Bieber (Fan Army FTW and Best Artist with a Cameraphone), Demi Lovato (Fan Army FTW and Best Artist with a Cameraphone), Sinead O?Connor (Oops! I Did It Online Award and Best Vintage Viral Video) and Adam Lambert (Fan Army FTW and Must Follow Artist on Twitter). Other nominated artists include Cher, Nirvana, Lil Wayne, Iron Maiden, Dolly Parton, Bjork, Wayne Coyne, Scissor Sisters, and Big Freedia.

Fan, innovators, products, and blog nominees include Air National Guard Band ?Sidewinder? for their cover of Adele?s “Rolling in the Deep,” Topspin?s Ian Rogers and The Hype Machine?s Arkadiy Kukarkin in the Hottest Music NILF (Nerd I?d Like to F*ck) category, Banjo Hangout and Rap Genius for Best Music Forum, Spin and WFMU?s Beware of the Blog in the Beyond the Blog category, SoundCloud and Songkick in the Best Music App category, and Turntable FM and Spotify in the Most Addictive Social Music Service category.

In addition to the live awards show, OMusicAwards.com will be hosting a separate livestream in to break the Guinness World Records? title for for the longest dance marathon by a team. Beginning, Sunday, October 30, OMusicAwards.com will begin livestreaming the world record attempt live from the Roxy Theatre on the Sunset Strip with the end goal of crossing the 24 hour mark during the live show on Halloween. The livestream will also serve as a platform to promote inclusivity and take a stand against bullying. Fans watching will be able to utilize their social media accounts to take positive action and provide encouragement to the dancers. Donations raised from the livestream will be divided equally between The Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN), The It Gets Better Project, The Gay Straight Alliance Network (GSA), Human Rights Campaign (HRC), Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) and The Trevor Project.

The sponsors for O Music Awards 2 are Dove? go fresh? Deodorant, Dance Central 2 for XBOX 360, Trojan? and L?Oreal. All four partners will be integrated into the live show and digital experiences. In addition, each partner will sponsor one or more categories.

The O Music Awards site will be the digital main stage and the heart of all activity in the weeks leading up to the O Music Awards 2. Post event, the website will continue to spotlight innovation and creativity in the digital music space. The award event will be the centerpiece of a larger ongoing discussion and celebration around digital music throughout the year that will take place across multiple platforms including the O Music Awards website and social media.
