Yesterday, two tiny snippets of Madonna’s next single, “Give Me All Of Your Love,” leaked online. It goes without saying that people IMMEDIATELY began critiquing the song’s merits in forums, blog posts and on social networks, despite the fact that this wasn’t a full, finished song, but rather, a DEMO.
Then, later last night, the full “demo” of “Give Me All Of Your Love” made its way online, and was picked up by outlets like Billboard, New York Magazine and Perez Hilton. Madonna and her manager, Guy Oseary, were none too pleased about the leak. Guy tweeted, “madonna told me this morning ‘my true fans wouldn’t do this’… whoever is responsible for this leak, we ask that you please stop!..”
Well, as the saying goes, you can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube. Pardon the metaphor stretch, but this saying holds true regardless of who actually did the squeezing. The song has leaked and, fairly or not, it’s being discussed. To that end, here’s the demo that’s been flying around:
We have some thoughts…
To us, it sort of sounds like what Gwen Stefani‘s “Hollaback Girl” would have sounded like if William Orbit, rather than The Neptunes, had produced it. It mixes catchy, cheer team shouts (“L–U–V Madonna! Y–O–U–You Wanna!”) with a propulsive, electropoppy yet guitar-driven beat. Perez said it sounded a little bit like “Beautiful Stranger,” and we can’t say that we disagree, but it’s also got an acoustic breakdown near the end of the song that reminds us of “Don’t Tell Me.”
It’s unfair to pass judgment on the song until we hear the fully finished version, but we will say this: It’s certainly better than “American Life”!
