As I peer into my crystal ball, here are three surprises to look out for at the Grammy Awards this Sunday night:

1. Nicki Minaj Won’t Win Best New Artist
Does she deserve it? Probably, but voters are prone to give the award to an act they think of as a potential career artist, more so than what they deem as a current mainstream phenomenon. Look for The Band Perry to win.

2. The Foos Can’t Play Nice
Because Dave Grohl verbally slammed electronic music during his on-stage banter at pretty much every Foo Fighters‘ live show last year, I was SHOCKED to find out that the Foos are scheduled to play in a mash-up Grammy performance with David Guetta, Deadmau5, Lil’ Wayne, and Chris Brown. If the Foo Fighters play nice, and Dave Grohl can manage not to roll his eyes or say something hilariously sarcastic, I’ll be surprised.

3. If Adele Doesn’t Win
If Adele doesn’t leave Los Angeles with th Album and Song of the year awards, consider it a monstrous upset. Adele’s sophomore album, 21, was a rare musical release that was loved by critics and mainstream fans alike, while selling over 5 million copies in an industry that’s given up on trying to reach such lofty figures. If Adele goes home empty-handed, expect the moon to turn blood-red and run inside your doomsday shelter.
