This week on That Metal Show, we had Alice Cooper, Jack Russell (Great White), and Brian Tichy rockin’ out on drums. We also asked Scott Ian (Anthrax) to stop by and be our first ever celebrity guest to participate in the “TMS Top 5,” and he helped us figure out the Top 5 Guitar duos of all-time. With all of the hard rock and heavy metal bands out there, it was pretty tough to come up with just five, but as you know, it’s called the “TMS Top 5,” so we’re keeping with tradition.
It was pretty much unanimous when deciding on the duos from Iron Maiden, Thin Lizzy, Judas Priest, and Aerosmith, but trying to come up with the last one was a tough debate. Do you add the boys from AC/DC though they don’t play dual leads? You could also say the same about the guys from Aerosmith because Brad Whitford doesn’t play a lot of solos, but he plays more than Malcolm Young of AC/DC. After much debate we decided on our Top 5 Guitar Duos. Check out the list below.
TMS TOP 5 GUITAR DUOS
1. Brian Robertson / Scott Gorham (Thin Lizzy)
2. Dave Murray / Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden)
3. Glenn Tipton / K.K. Downing (Judas Priest)
4. Joe Perry / Brad Whitford (Aerosmith)
5. Jeff Hanneman / Kerry King (Slayer)
So, there you have it — our TMS Top 5 list of Guitar Duos (Note: this conversation starts at 4:26 of the video below) and we want to know what yours is! Watch the full episode below and leave a comment with your list, argue with ours, or add a duo we forgot to add.
