Don’t ask Will Smith to freestyle and think he won’t step up to the challenge. RapUp.com posted the video of Smith’s recent visit to 106 & Park to promote his new movie Men In Black III. Host Terrence J started beatboxing, and it was on! Smith returned to his rapping roots delivering a short witty freestyle with few funny punchlines.
Smith’s focus may be centered around acting, producing and helping cultivate his kids’ careers, but don’t think this Philly bred father of three has lost his touch. He raps, “Yo, the champ’s in town/you can’t sit down/My flow is sick/infective vexes with the vapors/No time/I’m chasing paper.” Like his bubbly personality, his flow was comical and intriguing. The best line of the freestyle was a reference to his successful acting career. He changes the pitch and speed of the flow and raps, “I’m thinking ’bout taking the H and O out of Hollywood/putting a W-I/And make it Willywood/That’s kind of hot/I really should.” Gotta love the spontaneity of Big Willie on the mic. For now there’s no new music on the horizon. When asked if he’d make another album (his last was in 2005) he replied, “It’s too many people making music in my house right now.” As long as he drops a freestyle like that every now we won’t beg him to hit the studio.
