MTV Movie Award Performers

The MTV Movie Awards’ eclectic mix of performers every year is always a pleasant surprise. This Sunday the annual award show has pegged Martin Solveig to DJ the music for the evening. Expect to hear some mashed up remixes of iconic movies like Jaws, Pulp Fiction and Star Wars. DJ’ing won’t be the French producers only duty of the evening as he’ll also be joining Black Keys, fun. and Wiz Khalifa as performers. Hopefully his hit “Hello” will find its way into the list of songs (or performances!) that will make you want to boogie.

It looks like the wave of the electronic dance movement (EDM) is officially taking over. Stretching far beyond the club EDM was intended for, it has become a sound that artists like Usher and Chris Brown use frequently for party records that are a stark variance from the R&B ballads they’re known for. Amy Doyle, head of MTV music and talent told Billboard.com that adding Solveig was a great element to the EDM themed music of the night. “Having a house DJ will add an exciting new layer to the show and is a continuation of our full embrace of the EDM movement,” she told Billboard.com. We have high expectations for an electro-dance version of Harry Potter’s “Hedwig Theme.” You hear that Solveig?
