A Nas and Rick Ross collaboration has a track record of being certified smash hits. Let’s see, “Usual Suspects,” It’s A Tower Heist” and “Triple Beam Dreams.” Now the pair can add “Accident Murderers” to the list. Despite Nas’ Life Is Good not dropping until July 17, another single from what will be the emcees 10th studio album was released (possibly leaked) today. It’s just not fair how Nas is murdering the game right now.
Over the blaring piano and organ keys Nas tells a story of senseless killings that results in innocent bystanders losing their lives. He also tells the story of unnecessary murders, shading all those who brag about killing, when in actuality they are really only “accident murderers.” Between Nas’ two poignant storytelling verses Rick Ross raps in his braggadocio style completely ignoring the story of the song. He raps about the usual: money, being a gangster, luxury cars. That would have been fine for any other song, but here it doesn’t quite fit. But that doesn’t completely affect the song as a whole. Nas is batting four for four. “You ain’t mean to murk him, your gun’s a virgin,” raps the Queens native. We have to ask, did Nas mean to murder the summer like this with back to back hits?
