For the rest of the year the most anticipated moment of any music award show is going to be the Whitney Houston tribute. It’s no different with this Sunday’s BET Awards. The Associated Press reported that both Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z have been confirmed as guests for the big night. The power couple haven’t attended the award show in years. This year the Carters will be in the building ladies and gentleman.
So far Whitney’s mom Cissy Houston is the only confirmed singer for the tribute as BET is working hard to keep it under wraps so it’s a surprise. But there is chatter that Bey may be part of that tribute. And why wouldn’t she be? Jennifer Hudson and Jordin Sparks have already done tributes for Whitney at the Grammys and Billboard Music Awards respectively. Bey paid homage to the late singer by covering “I Will Always Love You” during her performance at Revel in Atlantic City.
Bey is nominated for six awards while hubby is nominated for five. Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Usher and D’Angelo are only a few of the acts set to shut down the stage for Sunday’s show. Beyonce gives her all in a show so we wonder what will she do. Will she give the all out blood, sweat and tears performance she’s accustomed to, or will she keep it more simple for Whitney who was more of a stand there and sing the song type of vocalist? The suspense! Sunday can’t come quick enough.
