Mumford and Sons Are Set To Return With Babel This Fall

Since their 2007 debut, Mumford & Sons have exploded from London porch-stomping, You Oughta Know artists past into the Grammy nominated, chart-topping, Unplugged playing, movie star marrying, scene-leaders they are today. And all this with just one album, Sigh No More, to their name. To be sure, all these years later we still have those twelve tracks in regular rotation on our iPods. But it’s time that the “Dust Bowl Dance” goes on. Thankfully, the Mumford & Sons have at long last confirmed that a sophomore album is on the way. Babel will hit shelves September 25th and will include twelve new songs to take us into the fall.

“We had started writing new songs well before we got into the studio to record,” the band explains in an announcement posted to their website. The live show being an important part of their creative process, they say they have at long last “peeled ourselves off the road quite reluctantly” and “fallen in love with recording again.” On tour all the while, they have debuted some of the new material — like “Lovers’ Eyes” and “Ghosts We Knew” – already. And as for the rest, they say it “is a natural progression that we’re proud of, and we cannot wait to take it out on the road.” The band head out with the new songs this August, and Sigh producer Markus Dravs assures that, “The idea was always ‘If it ain’t broke, why fix it?’” Now we  can’t wait until fall either — all banjo and leaves crunching below our feet it will be!
