Madonna Speaks on being booed

Madonna wants to set the record straight about being booed after her club gig performance at Olympia in Paris. After her 45 minute set, angry fans who paid nearly $100 to see her perform, booed, threw water bottles on the stage and chanted salope, the French word for slut, because Madge wouldn’t return for an encore. If that wasn’t bad enough it was all livestreamed on YouTube for the world to see. The Queen of Pop’s rep, Liz Rosenberg, released a statement defending Madonna . It’s safe to say Rosenberg thinks the booing was unwarranted.

Rosenberg wrote, “Madonna’s Paris club show was planned as her heartfelt thank you to France which she expressed at the start of her show. Despite a grueling concert tour, she desperately wanted to perform for her fans in an intimate setting at the historic Olympia as a means to honor her love for French artists, French cinema and a tribute to France’s long history of welcoming and inspiring artists, authors, painters, poets and minorities from other countries over the years. The show was not billed as her full MDNA concert and tremendous effort was made to keep the ticket prices reasonable ($100 for 2000 floor seats) and keep them strictly for her fans. The show cost Madonna close to a million dollars to produce. She has done a handful of club dates in the past and they were never more than 45 minutes. And by the way, she put on a fabulous show which was streamed for millions of fans around the world.”

Madonna had a few words of her own to add. On her website she attributed the booing to a few thugs, not her fans. “Playing the Olympia was a magical moment for me and it was real treat to do this special show for my fans and be so close to them. Unfortunately at the end of the show – after I left the stage – a few thugs who were not my fans rushed the stage and started throwing plastic bottles pretending to be angry fans,” she wrote. Does that mean a group of “thugs” paid close to $100 to sit through a 45 minute show just to throw bottles at the end? Whether it was disgruntled fans or thugs disguised as fans
