SONG OF THE SUMMER: Katy Perry Holds Tight At The Top, But It’s Not Over Until It’s Over

by (@zaragolden)

Welcome to Week 7 of VH1′s Song Of  The Summer Countdown, presented by our friends at Dove Clinical Strength Deodorant! As mentioned last weekKaty Perry is killing it for the third consecutive summer. “Wide Awake” has held tight at the top of the charts since early in the race, and with only one week of voting left in the competition, the title is close in sight. That is, unless you, voters, have something to say about it!

Powered by a great number of user votes, Justin Bieber‘s “As Long As You Love Me” surpassed both Flo Rida‘s “Whistle Son” and Carly Rae Jepsen‘s smash hit “Call Me Maybe” this week, landing it the No. 2 spot and posing the Biebz within close range of the title in this final stretch. One Direction‘s “What Makes You Beautiful,” Demi Lovato‘s “Give Your Heart A Break,” and Phillip Phillips‘ “Home” have also benefited from user votes. Are there any fun.-heads out there that might rally the troops for “Some Nights”? And where are you Swifties? “Never Ever” posted a solid late summer debut at No. 11 this week, but being the record-breaking hit it is, we might have expected even better for Taylor. Your votes really do count.

The summer is coming to a close, and thus so is your window of opportunity to vote for your the 2012 Song Of The Summer. The polls are only open for one more week — and one more week only! — so head over to SOTS.VH1.COM to cast your vote now. It’s not over ’till it’s over!
