Green Day go full charge ahead in the video for ¡Uno!‘s kicky anthem “Kill the DJ.” Their pretty “Oh Love” ladies kept clearly aside, the clip finds the boys saddled up on big bikes and zipping through the desert, off to find a DJ to kill so that good punk fun can be had by all once more. The hit is only a symbolic one, though, and the only real violence to be had here is a slaying guitar riff. Rather, this is an assault against the dubbed-out sound that seems to be dominating today’s air waves, Green Day’s own and only pretend bloody dubstep demolition.
Green Day released another video over the weekend, the second 100% less bloody and decidedly less fun than their “Kill The DJ” video. In a short video clip posted to the band’s website, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tre Cool canceled their tour stop in Bologna, Italy, and shared the bad news that Billie Joe Armstrong was “rushed to the hospital” for an unspecified condition. “Doctors don’t think it’s a good idea for him to play today,” Dirnt said, apologetically offering that, “We are beyond devastated and will make it up to you when we come back next summer,” they apologized. ¡Uno! is set to drop September 25th, and ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! in the months that follow — hopefully Armstrong will be back up and in DJ killing shape before then!
