The Rihanna Navy’s sails caught a nice windfall today: word has it that the Cpt. Rihanna is readying a seventh studio album for release this November, continuing with her run of eleventh month releases that extends back to 2009’s Rated R were also all released in the eleventh month. And according to a tweet from Def Jam France, the first single is due out as soon as Monday, September 17th. Def Jam France deleted the tweet and sent out a new one promising that more information will be available tomorrow. Sails up!
Rihanna’s world is looking far from hopeless these days, with Talk The Talk is still hanging tight at No. 20 on the Hip Hop and R&B Charts, and while “We Found Love” and “Birthday Cake” continue to see play elsewhere in the Billboard world. But Rihanna’s name has been in everyone’s mouths (and her face on one person’s neck) these past few weeks most often for reasons otherwise, namely that confession session with Oprah and her drama stirring evening at the MTV Video Music Awards, on the stage and off. She’s got a few ghosts to shake, and a new album and single seems the perfect storm to get things going.
