A$AP Rocky kicked off this year’s MTV Video Music Awards in high style, taking the stage with Rihanna to perform their new collaboration “Cockiness (Remix)” — and then taking a big ole’ handful of her behind. Rocky turned away laughing when Rihanna pushed him off, and the moment that soon thereafter spread across the internet via YouTube clip and of course .gif since then. Rather, Rocky seems content to brush off the moment as just that. “I thought it was just one of those moments,” he said, speaking with V-103. “I didn’t know everyone was really talking about it.”
“It really wasn’t no idea,” he continued, admitting that the grab “just happened” and saying nothing of whether Rihanna was in on it or not. Maybe because he usually performs with a bunch of dudes (the 100% male A$AP Mob), Rocky seems to have a tendency of getting extra-handsy when sharing the stage with women, Lana Del Rey having been taken as the object of his affections before this latest Rihanna thing. He makes a real point — in this V-103 interview and elsewhere — of talking about how he’s “talking to an era, a generation” and “not just talking to one class of people,” and so we hope that he’s taking these women into consideration, too, and at least is asking permission first.
