This next Bracket Madness face-off finds Lil Wayne going up against Justin Timberlake; Wayne’s ever expanding catalog against Justin’s carefully tailored hits. Mostly we would love to hear a collaboration from these two, Justin’s smooth croon playing foil to Wayne’s infamous croaky flow, together in male artist greatness. But we are here to crown just one, so which of the two deserves the title? As we mentioned, polls for this round of Bracket Madness will be open until MONDAY at 4PM, meaning you now have a few extra days to mull over who you think deserves the Greatest Male Artist crown. If there can only be one, who should it be?
This week Justin Timberlake’s Trouble With The Curve hits theaters, and once again Timberlake has come forward to defend his dormant musical career. At a press conference yesterday, for example, he explained that, “For me, personally, when I do sit down and decide to do it, it’s just a special thing,” he said, adding that, “I don’t know that I can pump [albums] out every year.” Though new Justin music would be great, we appreciate that he has chosen to be discerning with his career because everything he has put out so far has been so solid, and he doesn’t have a single song that’s a “skip.” Few artists can say that.
Lil Wayne, on the other hand, has kept fans attention with a near constant stream of music since he first hit the scene with the Hot Boyz in 1997. And so sure, there are a few “skips” in there, but more frequently than almost anyone else doing it, Wayne drops a song or verse that totally changes the game. “A Milli,” for example, finds the rapper eater twisting his tongue into knots while still being able to spit poetry; and perhaps more controversially so, his crossover hit “Lollipop” proved that he could keep his weirdo edge and get play on mainstream pop stations, too.
No one said this would be easy. Polls close on Monday at 4PM, so vote now and check back then to see who makes it to the final round of Bracket Madness!
