If you’re over TV talent show audition rounds, say “do-re-mi!” That sounded a little off-key, but we won’t judge. What we will critique are the skills of our favorite pop-stars-turned-reality-TV-judges, X Factor‘s Britney Spears and The Voice‘s Christina Aguilera.
We’ve been pitting them head-to-head each week to decide who is the master star spotter on her respective show. As always, we name our winner, but feel free to affect your best Simon Cowell impression and rip into both in our comments section.
Sassiest Comment: “I think Sister C’s annoying. Really not likeable.” While everyone else was gushing over the new generations’ Dixie Chicks, Britney was the lone voice of dissent among the other three judge’s praise for the harmonizing sisters. The woman is a trendsetter and knows what she likes. I’d trust the opinion of Hollywood’s Highest Paid Woman.
Diva Moment: Britney got emotional during the boot camp audition rounds this week, shedding a tear in a show of solidarity for a tanking contestant. “I don’t like that she’s crying…It makes me want to cry. I don’t want to cry,” she whispered to L.A. Reid. Queen B has compassion for the contestants, y’all! Nice to see her giving us something other than occasional manufactured smiles and blank face.
Sassiest Comment: “If you want to be a risk-taker, I would head over to Adam [Levine].” Christina didn’t even turn around for 20-year-old Caitlin Michele, so she had nothing to gain from her commentary. Yet, the “Dirrty” singer still managed to persuade the contestant to pick who she wanted and undercut competing judge Blake Shelton in the process. Maybe a little sneaky payback for his harsh comments Week 2?
Diva Moment: When Christina heard 17-year-old Kayla Nevarez sing “American Boy” she immediately started begging to be the girl’s coach. After the teen powerhouse mentioned she listened to Aguilera growing up, Christina was so certain Kayla would choose her as coach she stood and opened her arms for a hug. Then Kayla chose Adam. Ouch. Not one to be dismissed, Christina threw up a 1990’s talk to the hand and blocked the girl from a hug with her fan. Bitter much?
Verdict This week goes to Christina again. Sorry, Brit, but sabotaging fellow judges and throwing tantrums over contestants trumps tears any day. Maybe we’ll see more of that Britney’s spirited commentary ala week one of X Factor, once she gets her finalist group to her house for mentoring next week.
