Along with 70,000 excited fans we’ve trekked down to Austin, TX (where it’s 80 degrees!) for this year’s Austin City Limits Music Festival to partake in the live shows by bands that run the gamut of Red Hot Chili Peppers to Florence + The Machine to The Roots to The Black Keys. It’s going to be a jam packed three days of rocking out and grooving at Zilker Park to an eclectic mix of sounds. Aside from our excitement to try Austin’s famous mouth-watering barbeque, we’re anticipating unforgettable moments that shall go down in music festival history.
Rock ‘N’ Roll is alive and well. Red Hot Chili Peppers will prove this on Sunday by performing hits like “Under the Bridge,” “By the Way,” and “Snow.” These guys have been around since ’84 performing thousands of shows between then and now. Coming up with new ways to engage the crowd after 28 years could have its challenges, but as long as they give hardcore rock energy the crowd is sure to go wild.
Hip-hop acts at ACL this year are minimum, so it was only right that The Roots hold it down for the whole genre. Widely considered one of the greatest bands of all time–of any genre–we’re oh so ready for ?uestlove on the drums and Black Thought spitting lyrics few emcees can compete with. The eight member’s 2011 Undun neo-soul and indie sound tickled our fancy with tracks like “Stomp” and “One Time.” Watching their genius on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon is great, but there’s nothing like seeing the “You Got Me” group live.
The acts we anticipate sweaty, jump up and down, scream at the top of your lungs performances from are in abundance. Jack White, Florence + The Machine, Metric and Big K.R.I.T. And when our voices are on the verge of giving out from all the screaming we’ll slow it down with Gary Clark Jr., Esperanza Spalding and The Weeknd. Tuner’s got you covered Friday, Saturday and Sunday for live coverage from ACL. Be sure to also keep an eye on updates from our @VH1Music twitter account and see photos from VH1′s Instagram.
