Rihanna Explains Her “Tweet, Retweet, Trending Topic!” Songwriting Strategy And Dances With Chris Brown For GQ

by (@zaragolden)

You may have caught glimpse of — or lingered over, because who could blame you? — Rihanna‘s sexy GQ “Men of the Year (And One Hot Woman)” cover that hit the web over the weekend and figured she had already bared all. But the accompanying story is now up, and the boundary-less star has more yet to show and tell, about the bottle brawl and her songwriting, her Caribbean culture and of course her love life. Rihanna and the writer enjoy a night out on the town that includes a papparazzi-flash lit dinner, an impromptu song-writing sesh in her hotel room and a dance-floor reunion with none other than Chris Brown.

Afterwards, she takes the the writer out for a night on the town and as it turns out, Brown will be tagging along, too. As Bulger describes it, making eyes at one another “like kids passing notes in middle-school math class” from afar before Brown, real dramatic like, jumps the booth that had been acting as a divider between the two. Rihanna hands him a blunt at some point, but he seems clear-eyed in describing the unapologetic, you might call it, scene he bore witness to.

That’s where the real drama was, but it’s worth noting that another important man in Rihanna’s life, The-Dream made an appearance as well. He shows up in her hotel room, which looks like “the cargo hold of the Titanic after hitting the iceberg.” While there, the duo who worked together on “Umbrella” start jamming — she riffing off the Ozzy Osbourne and Patti Smith playing over the speakers, he banging out a beat on the door — and she tells the reporter that she wants her music to be uplifting, but “Nothing corny or super sentimental.” No, the ‘Net savvy star knows that sometimes short and sweet is what catches the crowd and she insists that “It’s gotta be tweet, retweet, trending topic!” Which sounds about right, given her Twitter feed as #unapologetic and #diamond studded as it is.
