Rihanna knows how to make history. The 777 tour will go down in history as the brilliant marketing idea that was poorly executed. The journalists became the story after days of having no access to Rihanna, minimum Wi-fi (which is essential to doing the work of a journalist), little sleep and having to wait on a plane for hours. By the third day the bad press had made it rounds on the ‘net. Still, Rihanna had little effs to give and remained mostly ghost.
In her first UK interview with Radio 1 Breakfast Show DJ Nick Grimshaw, the Covergirl defended her absence during the seven shows, seven countries in seven days tour. And why was she M.I.A? She was exhausted and needed to get her beauty rest. “It was different having to do your job but also have 200 guests come along with you,” she told the DJ. But what about the alleged partying and lingerie shopping? This bad girl took it easy. Basically, she partied, but could’ve gone even harder, so be thankful that she only mildly partied. “I knew I had seven countries and seven shows and I had to save my voice,” she said. “I didn’t go crazy. I didn’t party too hard.”
If it’s any consolation to the press who were on the plane, Riri said she wishes she had more time. “I did have fun though. I tried to get everybody involved but sometimes you just wish you could give more.” It’s ok, Rih. “Journalists are a forgiving bunch.” – said no one ever.
