Oh, brother. Did Rita Ora land the role Rihanna secretly coveted in the forthcoming The Fast and the Furious 6? Hopefully this is just another silly ploy by the tabloids to create a non-existent chick beef between the singers. The fact is: Rita Ora did nail her audition enough to snag a role in the sixth flick in the series that shall never end.
According to The Sun, a source told the tabloid, “Rihanna impressed movie bosses with her role in Battleship. But schedules didn’t work out and Rita really shone during castings. They loved her look and her attitude.” Congrats are in order for Rita. She’s had a great year with her debut Ora charting at No. 1 in the UK. Three of the album’s singles–Hot Right Now”, “How We Do (Party)” and “R.I.P.”–topped the charts making her the first artist of 2012 with three consecutive No. 1 singles on the UK Singles Chart. However, her success in the U.S. has been a lot less eventful, which leads us scratching our heads. We’re all about revenue flowing in from various endeavors, but we can’t help but to wonder if Rita should focus on attaining crossover success in the states before jumping head first into Hollywood. She’s super likeable, stylish and backed by Jay-Z–all factors that can lead to massive success.
Perhaps her visibility in the film will take her music career to the next level. But people are starting to wonder if the hype will yield any results. As for the Rihanna comparisons, or the faux beef between the stars, in my best Bajan accent, ‘Rihanna ain’t worried about a ting.’ And neither should Rita.
