Maroon 5 Heat Up The Grammy Nomination Ceremony With A Medley Of Hits

by (@zaragolden)

Maroon 5 never really get fancy with their performances, probably because they don’t really need to. They are practiced at what they do, and even in the least desirable of circumstances — the SNL soundstage, for one, is notorious for warbling even the most adept of vocalists but Adam Levine sounded just fine there — they put on a tight and enjoyable show. No pomp or circus necessary, and usually Levine just wears a t-shirt. And so it’s no surprise that the medley of hits they performed last night at the Grammy Nomination Ceremony was very laid back but everything it needed to be, and then a little more. Taylor and LL Cool J, we hope you are watching closely, because this is how you do it.

The band performed a medley of their hits, included three of the year’s biggest hits and one that’s sure to be a smash as soon as it gains momentum in 2013: “One More Night,” “Moves Like Jagger” (sadly, sans Christina Aguilera), “Daylight,” and “Payphone.” They stayed on course for the entirety of their five minutes on stage, Levine going off-script only long enough to bounce around a bit or let out an occasional whoop, and the audience seemed to love it. The girls in the front row knew every word! These guys are talented and professional, and this sort of solid performance is exactly why “One More Night” has sat atop the charts for so many weeks this summer and why Overexposed earned that Best Pop Vocal Album nod.
