Grammys 2013: Who Should Win Song Of The Year? [POLL]

If an artist wins the Grammy for Song of the Year, they’ve immediately been granted permission to stunt on everybody for at least a year with “Hi, I’m Grammy winner [insert name], and my song was, well, better than any other song that year.” It’d be pretty obnoxious but the Recording Academy acknowledging your song as the best one for the year is clutch.

2012 bossed up, smacking us with great music from all genres. It was the year of the breakout artists like almost everyone in the Song of the Year nominee category. On Sunday night, only one can take home the coveted award. Will it be Ed Sheeran‘s “The A Team,” Miguel‘s “Adorn,” Carly Rae Jepsen‘s “Call Me Maybe,” Kelly Clarkson‘s “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” or Fun.‘s “We Are Young” featuring Janelle Monae? We’ve made the case for three of these tracks, songs that we feel are the frontrunners in this category, but don’t forget to participate in our poll at the bottom of this posts to make your vote heard!

“Adorn” – Miguel

The numbers: Miguel wrote and produced the song himself. It has spent more than 20 weeks at #1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, the only song in Billboard history to do so.
It sounds like…: Magic. The kind of magic that comes complete with falsetto crooning and bass, simplistic keyboards and peculiar synths. His soulful crooning complements the backdrop echoes. And who can object to the lyrics, “Know that I adore you/let my love adorn you?”
Makes you want to…: Slow dance in the rain with the love of your life.
Why it’s a winner: It’s music you can feel.

“Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” – Kelly Clarkson

The numbers: Kelly is the first artist ever to have topped the Hot 100 AND each of Billboard’s Dance/Club Play Songs, Country Songs, Adult Contemporary, Pop Songs and Adult Pop Songs charts.
It sounds like...: A rock-pop mix of calm and hyper energies. The chorus’s guitar strings brings about Kelly’s known powerhouse vocals. Without the verses the electro-guitar and 1-2-1-2 bass of the chorus can stand alone.
Makes you want to…: Take your problems by the b*lls and triumph.
Why it’s a winner: The words and Kelly’s voice.

“We Are Young” – Fun. featuring Janelle Monae

The numbers: Billboard Hot 100, five times platinum and first song to hit seven weeks of 300,000 or more in digital sales.
It sounds like...: A marching band drum beat behind slow then high vocals. Its minimalist F key and drum beat allows the listener to hone in on the beautiful voices. Truly perfection.
Makes you want to…: YOLO, i.e. live your life to the fullest. Carpe diem.
Why it’s a winner: It’s unexplainable. It’s music; and all you know is it sounds divine.
