While spending time with Cold War Kids before their Webster Hall show last weekend, we asked lead singer Nathan Willett to send us a list of his favorite, most impactful books. Literature nerds, unite! The list has arrived.

If you’re a fan of the band, you might already be aware of the fact that Nathan’s lyricism is often inspired by literary works, themes and theory. 2008′s Loyalty to Loyalty album title was taken from philosopher Josiah Royce’s paper reacting to the writings of Friedrich Nietzsche, and their new album, Dear Miss Lonelyhearts, borrows melancholy sentiments from Nathanael West’s second novel about an advice columnist, Miss Lonelyhearts.

While mainstream media is getting all hot and bothered over The Great Gatsby hitting theaters in May (rightfully so!), I’ve got my heart set on some other titles to add to my viewing reading list this Spring. From Tolstoy to music biographies, check out Nathan’s top 10 reads below.
