Robin Thicke‘s Blurred Lines LP just dropped today and signs are pointing towards it being the biggest album of his career. It is seemingly well-positioned to topple Jay Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail when next week’s SoundScan figures are released, thanks in large part to the buzz created by the worldwide success of the album’s title track. And if you’re looking for inside dirt on the writing and recording of the LP, you’re in luck. None other than Robin Thicke himself recently sat down with VH1 here in our New York headquarters to give us the scoop about Blurred Lines in the latest installment of our Track-By-Track series.
Today, we’ll feature Robin’s Track-By-Track commentary on the last six songs on his Blurred Lines LP, which is available RIGHT NOW: “Give It 2 U (feat. Kendrick Lamar),” “Feel Good,” “Go Stupid 4 U,” “For The Rest Of My Life,” “Top Of The World,” and “The Good Life.” He also gives us a little insight into two songs that are include on the Deluxe Version of the LP, “Pressure” and “Put Your Lovin On Me.” [If you missed Pt. 1 yesterday, here’s Robin Thicke Breaking Down Blurred Lines (Pt. 1 of 2).]
6. “Give It 2 U (feat. Kendrick Lamar)”
WRITTEN BY: Robin Thicke, Kendrick Lamar Duckworth, William Adams, Lukasz Gottwald and Henry Walter
PRODUCED BY: Dr. Luke and Cirkut for Prescription Songs
EXCERPT OF ROBIN’S COMMENTARY: “Will.I.Am and I wrote that together in about an hour. I have a tendency to always want to bring up something negative or depressing in my songs; I always want to talk about my problems. Working with Will, we’re not going to talk about our problems. We’re gonna get straight to the dancefloor, straight to the sexy.”
