If you like Lana Del Rey…
There’s a surprising number of smart pop acts taking the stage at Lollapalooza this year. Fans should be able to enjoy some radio hits in between all the indie rock bands flooding the festival with alt-rock sounds.
Friday kicks off with one the summer’s biggest hits, “I Love It,” by Icona Pop. The group leads the festival with a performance at 1:45 pm. Continue the fun with Timeflies at 2 in Perry’s Tent. Fans then can slow things down a bit with Jessie Ware at 3:15. For some electronic pop, Hot Chip should fill the void at 7:25 and serve as the perfect opening act for Lana Del Rey who closes the first night at 8:45. If fans want something more to dance to, they can head over to Perry’s Tent for a close out performance by Steve Aoki.
Day 2 of the festival is packed with some fun. St. Lucia starts the day off right with the perfect summer music at 2:15. Matt & Kim pick up the tempo at 3:45 pm. Though, the Times Square strippers are likely to stay clothed for this performance. Then it’s over to the Bud Light stage at 4:45 for another songstress of the summer, Ellie Goulding, who is heating up the charts with “I Need Your Love” with Calvin Harris. No word if she’ll cover “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke, but here’s hoping! While Kendrick Lamar takes the stage before The Postal Service closes out day two, fans should check out Blondfire at 6:50. Their sound is a cross between Goulding and Goldfrapp’s ethereal phase. Following the groups performance, it’s back to Bud Light for a throwback to 2003 with “Such Great Heights” and other hits from Ben Gibbard‘s side project.
Sunday is a more spread out day with fewer pop acts taking the stage. Fans should plan to enjoy a long brunch before heading over to MS MR‘s performance at 3:30 pm. Then it’s over the Red Bull Sound Select stage at 4 pm for one the festival’s most anticipated shows, Tegan and Sara. Fans can hang out at the stage and check out the Grizzly Bear show before closing out the festival with Major Lazer.
