Rapper Nelly hams it up with co-stars Kevin Hart, JB Smoove, Boris Kodjoe, Nick Cannon and Duane Martin every week on TV’s fakest reality show, BET’s Real Husbands Of Hollywood. But Nelly put his acting chops on the shelf for a second and went back to dropping bars with the RHOH crew during one of the most entertaining cypher sets of the BET Hip Hop Awards Tuesday night.
And if it looked like our favorite future president was having a the time of his life with his over-the-top castmates, it’s because he was. VH1 caught up with Mr. “E.I.” recently, and he explained why the Housewives spoof has him asking what the hell am I part of on the daily (but in a good way).
“You look forward to going to work because the cast is great, the guys are great and it’s a dope scenario,” said the multi-platinum rap vet. But Nelly isn’t a stranger to acting. Among the opportunities he’s been offered recently? A role in upcoming Sylvester Stallone flick Reach Me.
But don’t worry, Nelly fans, the STL-native isn’t deserting the rap game to chase an EGOT just yet. “I don’t want to disrespect the culture and the method that is acting thinking I can just play any role. So I try to take things that I can do,” he said.
For now you can still catch Nelly doing what he can do to make us all laugh on Season 2 of Real Husband of Hollywood and give us new “hot sh*t” to shake it to with his latest album M.O.
