It’s the most wonderful time of the year! After successfully putting the national nightmare that is Black Friday firmly in the rearview, it’s time to move forward and focus on the important stuff … like listening to tons of Christmas carols while decking your halls with bows of holly. Savvy artists have long understood that releasing an album comprising solely of holiday tunes is a relatively easy way to make a buck (not to mention fulfilling one’s pesky record contract), which is why virtually every singer of note has released at least one of these LPs throughout their career.
With each holiday shopping season, though, a new batch of artists tries to put their spin on this tried and true tradition of bringing good cheer. So, which of these new releases are worth picking up as stocking stuffers and which should stay shelved in the North Pole? We here at VH1 have listened to most of this year’s crop—including releases from the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Mary J. Blige and, um, the Duck Dynasty family???—and categorized them for you. So, without further ado, please enjoy VH1’s 2013 Christmas Album Round-Up: The Good, The Bad And The Huh???
