Last night we partied on the beach, under the moon and stars at VH1 + SCOPE’s Official Party celebrating ART + MUSIC + BEACH in Miami. On an evening with weather so warm and perfect, surrounded by beautiful people on the sand, it was hard for us NYC’ers to remember that it is actually December.
We kicked the evening off by grooving to a set by DJ Brendan Fallis. The perfectly curated sounds were exactly what we needed to ready us for Tegan and Sara. The absolutely adorable sister duo took to the stage promptly at 10PM and kicked off their 10 song set with a song from their latest album “Drove Me Wild.” VH1’s indie pop favorites lit up the stage and played the perfect mix of songs from their latest album, Heartthrob and a few older classics. We dug our feet in the sand and danced as they played songs like “Back In Your Head,” “I Was A Fool,” and “How Come You Don’t Want Me.” The grateful sisters took us to a magical place and closed the set out with their hit single, “Closer” which was received by a beach full of happy, dancing party-goers.
The evening continued as DJ Cassidy took to the turntables and kept the beach party going. The crowd, a mix of art fans and celebs, like actor Tyson Beckford, rapper Theophilus London, models Teresa Moore and Carissa Rosario mingled and danced to classics from Gloria Estefan, Madonna, and Michael Jackson. The ART + MUSIC + BEACH celebration was in full effect as we danced on the beach to a backdrop of the ocean and a Hebru Brantley painting. Finally at midnight, after the crowd pleaded for one more song, we were pushed off the beach and the fun evening came to an end. As SCOPE’s art show comes to a close this weekend we can’t help but already look forward to next year!
