A Great Big World blew the roof off of Manhattan’s Highline Ballroom last night, playing their new album Is There Anybody Out There? in its entirety in front of a live audience for the first time ever. The album doesn’t officially drop until Tuesday (1/21), but if you were lucky enough to snag a ticket for the sold-out show or you tuned into the VH1 livestream last night, you got to pay witness to a new act really starting to come into its own. But if you happened to miss the show, you’re in luck — we’ll be rolling out clips from last night’s big show over the course of the next couple of days.
Not surprisingly, the biggest cheers of the night were reserved for A Great Big World’s #1 smash, “Say Something.” The track is bearing down on the 2 million download mark and has reached the level of cultural ubiquity where people who don’t necessary recognize the name “A Great Big World” (yet!) are saying, “Oh yeah, I know that song.” It’s on a track to be one of the most culturally resonant ballads of this decade, and the live version from last night’s concert is guaranteed to give you a few goosebumps.
Come back on Monday to see “Rockstar” (the lead track from Is There Anybody Out There?) and “Shorty Don’t Wait,” and on Tuesday—that’s release day!—we’ll have “This Is The New Year” (the song that earned them a record deal) and “I Really Want It.” Enjoy!
