That Miley Cyrus Tongue Was Meant For KISS

Everyone dreams of one day fronting their favorite rock band, even if it means shoving the real lead singer into the corner. As one of the thousands of hopefuls on American Idol, a young Adam Lambert broke through with “Bohemian Rhapsody” as his audition song. And by the end of the season he would eventually joined Queen onstage, proving that certain dreams really can come true — especially if you happen to know Simon Cowell.

After performing with Queen guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor on Idol in 2009, Lambert joined them at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2011 and on select tour dates in 2012, taking the lead of Freddie Mercury vocals. Last fall they reunited at the iHeartRadio festival, and by March the trio announced Lambert will join Queen’s 19-date North American tour this summer. Superfan made good or the dawning of a new supergroup? Their impending jaunt got us thinking: What other current acts would be adequate substitutes in some of the most beloved rock and roll groups? And who would we love to see share the stage purely for comedic reasons? We have a few ideas up our sleeve…

Miley Cyrus has a tongue with swagger, which would make her a perfect addition to KISS. Katy Perry and John Mayer‘s on-and-off romantic history could fuel material fitting for a Rumours sequel, while the showmanship of Bruno Mars is on par with that of Michael Jackson and his brothers. Pharrell‘s falsetto brings back memories of Saturday Night Fever and Shakira‘s powerful vocals (not to mention her flowing man) could be interesting when mixed with the sounds of Led Zeppelin. But you have to see them to really get on board with our vision.

Psyched for another Adam Lambert-Queen live show? Which current acts would you like to see team up with some of the greats? Let us know in the comments, below.
