With over 100 bands performing at Lollapalooza this weekend, there’s a lot of music to digest at the three-day festival. Everyone from Kings of Leon to Calvin Harris are performing representing a variety of genres from EDM, alt rock, hip-hop and indie pop.
Among the performers on the festival’s eight stages — one being Palladia, marking its debut at Lolla — are a number of VH1 You Oughta Know alums, including Lorde and Foster the People, that have been storming up the charts over the past year. Many are first-time performers and sure to bring a new flavor and sound to the long-running festival.
Check out our guide to the artists you oughta see at Lollapalooza:
(Sun, 1:30 pm, Lake Shore)
August’s YOK artist, Bleachers is as fresh as they get. The side project fronted by .fun’s Jack Antonoff just released their debut album, Strange Desire, on July 15. The group, which blends together alternative rock and indie pop, is a perfect match with Cut / Copy (Sat, 9:00 pm, The Grove), Grouplove (Sat, 4:45 pm, Bud Light), and The Temper Trap (Sat, 3:15 pm, Lake Shore).
(Fri, 5:30 pm, Lake Shore)
This synthpop group first got our attention back in April. Drawing influences from Cyndi Lauper, Whitney Houston, and Kate Bush, they are the perfect starter to Lolla. The band should be followed up by performances from Betty Who (Sun, 5:40 pm, BMI), Jenny Lewis (Sat, 7:45 pm, The Grove), and Nonono (Sun, 2:15 pm, The Grove).
