Tuned In: Junip Mesmerize On Jimmy Kimmel Live

Are you in love with Jose Gonzales? If you’re not, you have a cold, cold heart — the singer/songwriter is absolutely alluring, and his whimsical brand of music simply dreamy. The Swedish born Argentinian Gonzalez appeared with his band, Junip, last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, performing “In Every Direction” and “Always” (above). With Gonzales’ enthralling, soft vocal and the gentle brushing of guitar chords, Junip is like listening to the air whispering in the trees on some fantasy planet…

Bruce Springsteen Performs A Tear-Inducing Rendition Of “Incident On 57th Street” For The First Time Ever As A Solo Performer

On Friday night in Pittsburgh, Bruce Springsteen performed “Incident On 57th Street” from the 1973 album The Wild, The Innocent And The E Street Shuffle for the very first time as a solo performer. The performance was part of a show The Boss did with long time friend Joe Grushecky, and it not only wow-ed the tiny audience lucky enough to be in attendance, but it has us in awe as we replay the video again and again. And awe is an understatement — in all honesty, we’ve found ourselves getting a little bit teary-eyed listening to Springsteen’s raw, soulful acoustic rendition of one of his earliest hits.

Is Black Sabbath About To Announce That They’re Reuniting?

Back in August, we excitedly passed along some reports that iconic metal band Black Sabbath were planning on reuniting. The day after, Black Sabbath founding guitarist Tony Iommi insisted that a journalist had actually misquoted him in an interview, asserting that the band had no plans to get back together. Now, it seems, the band may be set for a reunion after all, with reports that the band recently met at Ozzy Osbourne‘s house to jam.

Avril Lavigne And Boyfriend Brody Jenner Get Beat Up By Some H8R Bois

Enjoying a night out on the town in Hollywood over the weekend, pop-star Avril Lavigne and boyfriend Brody Jenner were allegedly jumped by five random assailants outside of the Roosevelt Hotel and beaten up. Avril tweeted about the incident, saying “I don’t fight. I don’t believe in it. To clear things up I got attacked by 5 people last night out of nowhere. Not cool. My face is f—d.” She then went on to announce she had a “… Black eye, bloody nose, hair ripped out, scratches, bruises and cuts. So not ok to be abusive to others. Violence is NEVER the answer.”

This is the second pop star beatdown to occur over the last few months. As you’ll recall, friend of VH1 Gavin DeGraw was assaulted by a group of thugs after a late night in New York City. We’re not sure why hooligans have suddenly decided to concentrate their efforts on Top 40 mainstays, but we suggest that everyone who currently has a single in the iTunes Top 100 (or, for that matter, loose ties to the Kardashian clan) take extra security with them when you hit the club for the forseeable future.

Frank Ocean Delights Fans In New Orleans, Outrages Fans In New York Cancelling Last Night’s Show Due To Illness

From humble beginnings as part of the controversial collective Odd Future Wolfgang Kill Them All, Frank Ocean is splashing out on his own and is not only vastly popular, but increasingly influential. Indeed, the singer/songwriter has appeared on Jay-Z and Kanye West‘s much hyped Watch The Throne album (co-writing and singing on “Made In America” and “No Church In The Wild”), and has even written a tune for Beyoncé (“I Miss You” from her new album, 4). All this without even having released an official album.

The fledgling performer could be, in this light, easily mistaken for a veteran, especially when he returned to hometown New Orleans on Saturday night to play his first ever solo show. All accounts tell of an enthusiastic, even hysterical reception, with fans singing along to lyrics and cheering for the rising star even when he fumbled with technicalities on stage. In the above video of Ocean performing “Thinking About You,” you can hear the crowd expertly keeping up with Ocean’s vocal, as if his songs were well-worn, tirelessly played classics. Ocean also beautifully covered his song for Beyoncé, “I Miss You,” at the New Orleans show (below).

Tuned In: Travie McCoy Joins Maroon 5 For “Stereo Hearts” On SNL

This weekend on Saturday Night Live, Maroon 5 sang Gym Class Heroes’ “Stereo Hearts,” accompanied by GCH frontman Travie McCoy. And there was not a fleck of skin in sight as both Adam Levine and McCoy sported heavily tattooed arms as they performed side-by-side. Soulful and summery, “Stereo Hearts” effortlessly combines Levine’s r’n’b influenced pop sound with McCoy’s laid back rapping style. Not to mention all the kinds of good looking happening on stage as the two musicians sang together!

Sneak Peek: Katy Perry, “The One That Got Away”

Katy Perry has revealed a sneak peek of her new video for “The One That Got Away,” the forthcoming single from her album Teenage Dream. Katy’s last single, “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)”, not only was our 2011 Song Of The Summer, it tied her with Michael Jackson for the record of most #1 hits from one album. At the time, we speculated that Katy might have a a chance to dethrone the King Of Pop; will this be the single to do it?

Well, from what we can gather from this preview of “The One That Got Away,” her chances seem promising. Although it has some similarities to Rihanna‘s voice over/narrative-led video for “We Found Love,” Katy’s video seems much more whimsical, with a soft focus aesthetic and some very Zooey Deschanel moody eyes and eyelash batting. With building hype around the single and an emotional trailer, will “The One That Got Away” make Katy the kitty that got the cream?
