The Fab Five’s Aly Raisman Has Offered Phillip Phillips Gymnastics Lessons, And He’s “Down”

In town on tour, reigning American Idol winner Phillip Phillips breezed through VH1 headquarters last week to perform his coronation single and Song of the Summer contender “Home” on Big Morning Buzz Live, and then for a quick chat with us about the song and his Olympic ambitions. With American Idol already won, it turns out there may also be Olympic glory in his future, especially if Fab Five star Aly Raisman gets her way with him. Read more…

Welcome to Week 7 of VH1′s Song Of  The Summer Countdown, presented by our friends at Dove Clinical Strength Deodorant! As mentioned last weekKaty Perry is killing it for the third consecutive summer. “Wide Awake” has held tight at the top of the charts since early in the race, and with only one week of voting left in the competition, the title is close in sight. BRACKET MADNESS: Did Nickelback Or Linkin Park Rock Your 00s?

This round of Bracket Madness‘ third match-up draws a battle between popular Aught rockers Nickelback and Linkin Park. In a decade where pop mostly reigned supreme, both these rock groups were able to establish sounds and styles of their own, and to sell tons and tons of records. Nickelback have filled arenas with their melodic, post-grunge rock, while Linkin Park have paved the way for rock-rap groups a many. If only one of these two great rock groups can move on to the next round of the Greatest Artist of the 00s, who should it be? Read more…

Tuned In: Neon Trees Get Everybody Talking On David Letterman

Last night on late night, pop-rockers Neon Trees swung by Late Show with David Letterman to play their charged new single, “Everybody Talks.” The night was all about frontman Tyler Glenn, who, in silver lame pants and a big bow tie, and with his hair died bottle blonde, spent the entirety of the performance working out his inner Elvis — hips and wail and mic stand swinging and all. Neon Trees may have started with a whisper, but there’s nothing hushed about them. And with “Everybody Talks” charging up the charts, like their first single “Animal” did last year, we suspect we’ll be hearing lots more from Glenn and company real soon.

BRACKET MADNESS: Britney Spears And Beyoncé Sing-Off

The next Bracket Madness pairing finds two leading ladies pitted against each other, each singing for their chance at the Greatest Artist of the 00s title: Britney Spears and Beyoncé. In a decade lucky for its many talented artists, these two both earned their Queen B status as singers and stars alike, making hits and moments, and setting a high bar for all those who will follow. Only on, though, can be the greatest. Who should it be?

Will.I.Am Is Collaborating With Britney Spears, Mick Jagger… And NASA’s Mars Rover!

Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am released the track list for his forthcoming and very au courant album, #willpower. Over the years, will.i.am has worked in some capacity with seemingly everyone, and it looks like he’s cashing in all his favors for this fourth solo album. A newly released track list for this next effort is loaded heavy musical collaborations, all of the following making some sort of appearance: Britney Spears, Ne-Yo, Rihanna, Chris Brown, David Guetta, Eva Simons, Redfoo and Nicole Scherzinger. And were that not enough, Jennifer Lopez, Mick Jagger and Cheryl Cole, too, will be included on the album’s deluxe edition.

The collaboration doesn’t end there, though, and this next one is truly for the history books: NASA announced today that they have teamed up with will.i.am to debut the album’s next single from the surface of Mars. “Reach for the Stars” will be transmitted to Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, tomorrow at 1 PM PT as part of a special educational event that will promote science education by showing-off NASA’s Curiosity rover and its intergalactic findings — this new song apparently. “My song is finally going to be beamed back to earth from MARS,” tweeted will.i.am yesterday, excitedly because finally. Mars! Read more…

BRACKET MADNESS: *NSYNC And Backstreet Boys Face Off In The Battle Of The Boy Bands

And so Bracket Madness begins again, this time pitting your favorite artists from the last decade against each other because at competition’s end there can be but one VH1 The Greatest Artist of the 00s! First up, we have *NSYNC versus Backstreet Boys, the great boy band battle. The turn of the millennium heralded a golden age of pop, and both *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys arrived on the scene already prime boy band specimens, complete with Mickey Mouse Club alums, glossy singles, and sweet choreographed dance moves. They weren’t the same, though, and the masses were quickly divided — each with their preferred band, each with their favorite boy. And now there can only be one. Who should it be? Read more…

Two Door Cinema Club, Azaelia Banks, And Green Day: What You Missed At The Reading Festival

Another year, another rocking late-August weekend at the Reading Festival. The annual U.K. festival stunned this year, with highly anticipate sets from the Foo Fighters, At The Drive-In, Kasbian and The Cure; roaring young acts like Azealia Banks, Odd Future and Florence + The Machines; and surprise appearances from Two Door Cinema Club and Green Day. We didn’t make it across the seas in time for the fest, but lucky for us those who did have got us covered. Didn’t make it either? BRACKET MADNESS: Vote For The Greatest Artist Of The ’00s!

Earlier this month, after a tough three rounds of voting, we crowned Mariah Carey as The Greatest Artist Of The 90s. That settled, we are looking forward to the near past: the ’00s. The new millennium brought a whole new slew of greats, as rock and rap and otherwise broke into the Top 40 and anyone at No. 1 seemed possible. Who’s next in line for the crown?

Round One faces off the best of the boy bands *NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys; leading ladies Beyoncé and Britney Spears; kings of the rap game Eminem and Jay-Z; and rockers Nickelback and Linkin Park. Eight great Aught acts to be sure, but only one can be The VH1 Greatest Artist of the 00s. Did Justin Timberlake drive you “Crazy” or did Nick Carter have it “Goin’ On”? Were you “Dangerously In Love” With Bey or a “Slave 4″ Brit? Were your 00s “99 Problems” or about cleaning out your “Closet”? Were you about Chad Kroegers arena rocking or Mike Shinoda’s rap-rock?

Usher And Chanel Iman Take A “Dive” In New Video

Usher doesn’t need a lifesaver, because he and Victoria’s Secret model Chanel Iman aren’t afraid to get wet together in this sepia-toned new video for “Dive.” The Looking 4 Myself ballad leaves little to the imagination — “It’s raining inside your bed, no parts are dry/ Loving makes you so wet, your legs and thighs,” “I’ll be inside when the tides are rolling, baby” etc. — and so it’s no surprise that the video goes all in on Usher’s Titanic fantasy. Out to sea, things go from steamy to soaked pretty quickly as the two get down to business on their luxury yacht. And nobody seems to mind when they are eventually submerged — Ursher Baby knows going deeper ain’t going to kill him. Read more…
