On Monday, we introduced you to our brand new Posted artist, Miss Christina Perri. And, what do you know, she’s already chiming in with a special message for you, her fans, direct from the road, where she’s opening up for James Blunt.
So, without any further ado, we’re going to turn the floor over to Christina. Take it away!
hi vh1 readers!
welcome to my first Posted artist blog :) it’s good timing too ’cause im doing a million things a day + have a lot to share!!!!!
What a whirlwind couple of days it’s been! We arrived in historic downtown Las Vegas late Wednesday afternoon for the O Music Awards and now, less than 48 hours later, it’s already time to leave. Boo!
Before we go, we thought we’d share a few snaps from last night’s festivities, in case you missed it. Some were taken by our friends at Getty Images, but we were also able to whip out our handy iPhone 4 to grab a few moments that the professional photographers didn’t catch. Like, for example, when we won $19 on slots! (Clearly, a personal highlight, but one we couldn’t resist sharing.)
One last thing: We managed to scoot away from our laptop in the press room JUST IN THE NICK OF TIME to catch this moment, which was pretty awesome (but not quite as awesome as when we met Rebecca Black). Hope you enjoyed our coverage!
However, our personal highlight of the evening was when we were able to steal a few minutes of internet superstar Rebecca Black’s time, just moments after this evening’s extravaganza wrapped. We only had a few minutes with her and, in the interest of expediency, we uploaded our shaky, iPhone-shot interview with her straight to Vimeo. We pressed her on a few things, like whether or not she’s really going to record “LOL” as her next single and if the 13 year-old is going to hit the slot machines while she’s here in Vegas, but our highlight of the 2-minute interview was when we asked her if she was nervous before the cameras turned on tonight. “I don’t get nervous,” she replied with the kind of brazen confidence that comes after your video has been streamed 120 million times in six weeks. “I don’t see the point in it.” Swag!
Tonight, in the heart of downtown Las Vegas, the first ever O Music Awards are going down! Looking for a complete list of winners? Look no further! We’ll be updating this list all night long as the winners are announced, so keep hitting refresh ’til your heart’s content and things will make themselves clear. Remember, knowing is half the battle!
As we observe Chiddy shout-out everyone from Chris Bosh to Elton John —we’re still waiting for him to comment on tomorrow’s Royal Wedding!— it’s time to hand out the latest O Music Award, this time for the Fan Army FTW. Big ups to MJJ Community, one of the world’s foremost Michael Jackson fansites, for their victory!
Hello from Sin City! We’re out here live in historic downtown Las Vegas getting prepped for tonight’s first ever O Music Awards ceremony. We’ve drank our coffee, washed the smell of cigarettes from our clothes and put last night’s epic losses at the roulette wheel (note to self: tonight, definitely take the wise words of Wesley Snipes from Passenger 57 to heart) firmly behind us as we gear up for what promises to be a monumental evening.
Tonight’s show will be streaming live on the official O Music Awards site beginning at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT, but we’re not waiting until then to get started. Earlier this morning, we announced the winner of the Best Tweet category; congratulations to Kanye West (who, truth be told, was the only person nominated in this category, because, DUH!) on the win. Even more exciting than that is the news that Chiddy Bang is going to attempt to break the Guinness World Records title for “Longest Freestyle Rap” today. In order to do that, he has to RAP FOR OVER EIGHT HOURS without stopping. And guess what? We’ll be livestreaming the whole thing, starting at 2:30 p.m. ET today!
Daryl Hall and Rebecca Black are two names that we never expected to occupying the same headline, but that’s just part of the beauty of the inaugural O Music Awards. Daryl is, of course, one half of the most popular successful duo in musical history —Hall & Oates racked up 34 Top 100 singles, including six #1s!— and, well, Rebecca has been internet famous for six weeks or so, during which time her “Friday” video has been streamed over 120 million times on YouTube alone.
Don’t forget to check out the O Music Awards site tomorrow night at 11 p.m. Eastern/8 Pacific to see exclusive performances from the likes of Mumford & Sons, Matt and Kim and Chiddy Bang, streamed live from the heart of Sin City! We’ll also have a bunch of coverage for you right here on the VH1 Blog all day tomorrow, so stay tuned…
We’re still two full days away from the first annual O Music Awards, which will be streaming live on a computer near you this Thursday at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT. However, because this is unlike any awards show you’ve ever seen, we’ve already started announcing some of this year’s big winners. So far, prizes have been given out for the Most Innovative Music Video (congrats, Andy Grammer!), the Favorite F**k Yeah Tumblr (shout-out to F**k Yeah Adam Lambert, see the award presentation below!) and, just a few minutes ago, the Favorite Animated GIF, which you can see directly above!
Don’t forget to check out the official O Music Awards site all day Thursday, where we’ll be bringing you awesome content straight from the Las Vegas Strip. Be sure not to miss the show itself which, as we mentioned above, will be starting at 11 p.m. ET and will feature performances from Mumford & Sons, Chiddy Bang, Matt and Kim and much, much more.
If you’re ever asked, “Hey, name me two great tastes that taste great together!”, chances are you’ll say something like “chocolate and peanut butter” or, if you’re a traditionalist, “peanut butter and jelly.” Well, it’s a little known fact that there’s another appropriate response to that line of questioning: headbangers and porn stars!
Both were on full display in Los Angeles last night, where hard rock’s elite and some of the finest denizens of the San Fernando Valley converged for the 3rd Annual Revolver Golden God Awards, which will air in the coming weeks on VH1 Classic. Host Chris Jericho, who you’ll recognize as a familiar talking head on VH1 (in addition to being a singer and wrestler), presided over the raucous affair, which hosted performances by recent RRHOF inductee Alice Cooper, Sebastian Bach, former Guns N’ Roses bassist (and Playboy’s current financial columnist!) Duff McKagan, and more. Meanwhile, the red carpet was a metalhead’s dream come true: Celebrity Rehab 2 alum Steven Adler, Motley Crue, Dave Navarro and more crossed paths with adult film stars like Jenna Haze and Sasha Grey. And yes, as promised in the headline, William Shatner made an appearance, too!
