Lorde can officially no longer say that she’ll never be a royal. The 17-year-old You Oughta Know artist has officially cemented her place as a pop princess with her understated, yet outstanding, Grammy Awards performance of “Royals” tonight. Lorde kept true to her roots with her performance and gave us a simple stage, a simple outfit and absolutely bonkers dance moves. HASHTAG CLAW HANDS!
The Grammy Awards are the one night each year that music industry honors its very best talent and also showcases its very worst in fashion. In past years, outrageous fashions have run the gamut from Jennifer Lopez‘s infamous (and infinitely hot) Versace gown, to Nicki Minaj‘s dark red cardinal costume, and Lady Gaga‘s egg. And this year, stars like Cyndi Lauper and Skylar Grey are (unfortunately) continuing the not-so-proud tradition of worst dressed celebrity fashion at the Grammys.
Bastille made their Saturday Night Live debut last night. Host Jonah Hill introduced the British rock band on stage to perform their popular singles, “Pompeii,” and their ballad, “Oblivion.” All in all, the band gave two fantastic performances. The soundtrack seems to be catching on due to the overwhelming popularity of the song, “Let It Go.” The song, which is sung by living Broadway legend Idina Menzel in the film and by Demi Lovato on the pop charts, has been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song. So, naturally, it’s been covered by thousands of teenaged aspiring Broadway belters, hoards of enthusiastic four year olds and even by a music box. So we’re breaking down the 7 best covers of “Let It Go” online that are worth taking a gander at. Read more…
Justin Bieber has been busted! The Miami Beach police department has confirmed that Justin Bieber was arrested early this morning. The 19-year-old pop star was driving under the influence of alcohol and perhaps drugs. Worse than that, Bieber was caught drag racing, driving with an expired license and he resisted arrest.
Drake is no stranger to taking the Saturday Night Live stage, but last night the rapper and singer pulled double duty as host and musical guest. Drake not only killed it with soulful, stripped-down and rearranged versions of “Started From The Bottom,” “Trophies,” “Hold On We’re Going Home,” and “From Time,” but he also managed to fit right in with the Saturday Night Live cast.
