It seems like only yesterday the KONGOS brothers were in our studio telling us why we should be listening to their music, and now they’re killing it at places like Austin City Limits. They grow up so fast! We just want the record to show, we saw them first.
We all want to be just like the cool kids, but nothing is cooler than the acoustic version of Echosmith‘s hit song “Cool Kids”. The techy-synthetic sounds of the original track are hard to beat, even with a voice as angelic as Syndey Sierota’s. However, Echosmith outdid themselves with this one and produced something arguably even better than the version you know and love.
Echosmith‘s song “Cool Kids” has been blowing up! It has been climbing to the top of the international charts, as well as our Top 20 Countdown list and Billboard‘s Hot 100 on this side of the globe. If you don’t know Echosmith by now, maybe you aren’t one of the the cool kids (JK). But that’s why we’re here, to bring you 5 reasons you NEED to know Echosmith.
Talk about having great family genes! The kids in this month’s You Oughta Know band, Echosmith, are one photogenic bunch. As if that weren’t enough, they have great personalities, too! They don’t want to be like the cool kids, they are the cool kids! And lucky us, we got to spend the entire day with them.
Welcome to the VH1 You Oughta Know family, Echosmith! As part of their initiation, we threw them a curve ball: our Stop/Watch Challenge. This can separate the boys from the men and the rookies from the professionals. For newcomers, we think these cool kids did pretty well.
Let’s get it out of the way right now: it’s pronounced Toe-v Low. The last two days have been HUGE for electropop singer Tove Lo. Not only did she release her debut studio album Queen Of The Clouds on Tuesday, but she also just launched her U.S. Tour last night at Webster Hall in NYC. In association with VH1′s You Oughta Know series, we livestreamed her concert across multiple platforms, but there was no comparison to seeing her live.
Since the release of her debut studio album in April of this year, Miss Iggy Azalea has been blowing up the hip-hop game. Her album, New Classic, took over as the highest-charting female rap album when it was released. Some might argue that Iggy stole the spot from Nicki Minaj‘s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, released in 2012. And lately, it seems like you can’t turn on the radio without hearing that Australian twang pouring out of it. It’s really no surprise that we were pumped to experience her rap game live this past Friday night at Pier 97.
Twenty years in the music industry and Usher is still going strong! Thanks to Pepsi, you could win a chance to hang out with him and, as if that weren’t enough, if you win you would also see him perform LIVE!
On a recent trip to Los Angeles, Ian Axel and Chad Vaccarino of the band A Great Big World took a spin downtown to visit the most inspiring places L.A. has to offer. With the help of Toyota, the group made stops at L.A.’s Chinatown to grab some food, walked the L.A. River (made famous by the movie Grease), and ended at the Orpheum Theater, the gorgeous restored movie palace.
