Desperate shock rocker Marilyn Manson‘s latest stop on the Crazytrain? Dissing My Chemical Romance. Manson tells The London Paper his song "Mutilation Is the Most Sincere Form of Flattery," featuring the lyrics "f*ck you, f*ck you," is directed at the Jersey goth rockers. Manson takes issue with the "sad, pitiful, shallow version" of Manson the band has affected. He then entreats the band, "If they want to identify with me, then here’s a razor blade. Call me when you’re done and we’ll talk."
Unfortunately, it seems that Mr. Brian Warner owns a glass house: He’s constructed his stage persona by ripping off Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson, gotten his goth rock aesthetics from Alice Cooper, Trent Reznor and Ozzy Osbourne. Add to the list his stealing lengthy song titles from emo hearthrobs like Fall Out Boy, and Manson doesn’t have much room to speak. Most recently, he’s taken a page from recently divorced middle-aged men by dating someone half his age.
– The Dylan biopic I’m Not There — starring Heath Ledger, Christian Bale, Richard Gere and Cate Blanchett as Bob Dylan (yes, all of them) — gets the Subterranean Homesick Blues treatment with this movie poster.
- "Idol" may not have wanted her for the finale, but Katharine McPhee is ready for her indie close-up. She’s set to star in The Last Caller, and she’ll play a "self-obsessed woman who searches for love, hope and meaning during a few random events with other urban seekers."
- Who gets the biopic treatment twice over? The Candy Man does. Outkast’s Andre 3000 is slated to star as Sammy Davis, Jr. in Sammy and Kim, while Denzel Washington will star in and direct In Black and White.
Pop starlet Ashlee Simpson and boyfriend Pete Wentz are bringing their brand of punk lite to the world of music — Wentz and Simpson are collaborating on a track on Simpson’s new album, due out later this year. Simpson is rumored to be working with acts as various as the Cure’s Robert Smith and Timbaland in the hopes of getting a more "soulful" vibe on her third record. The Sisters Simpson are notorious for bringing off-stage collaborations on — could a reality television show and subsequent break-up be far behind for Ash and Pete?
Dead rock stars shilling shoes? That’s the idea behind Saatchi & Saatchi’s U.K. campaign, which features Kurt Cobain, Joey Ramone, Sid Vicious and Joe Strummer as they might appear in the afterlife, wearing Docs (Kurt had a preference for Converse One-Stars, but hey!, Photoshop is amazing). Said the campaign’s writer, Andrew Petch: ?We wanted to communicate that Dr. Martens boots are ?made to last, and we discovered that these idolized musicians wore them. Showing them still wearing their Docs in heaven dramatized the boots? durability perfectly. And, as images, they feel very iconic." Wondering how such a thing is possible? The images are legally cleared for use in the U.K. Courtney Love‘s not too pleased about it. Her rep told People that she "did not, and would not, approve of such a use of Kurt’s name and likeness." She did, however, license Cobain’s music to CSI: Miami. People in glass houses and all that. See the rest of the campaign after the jump.
A rapper getting arrested? Ain’t no thang. But a rapper that’s preening and posturing while in police custody? That’s rap run amok.
Last week, Compton MC The Game was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats after he allegedly pulled a gun during a pickup hoops game in South Central. So was he remorseful? Hardly. While being driven away by the cops Game smiled, stuck his tongue out and said, "I want to say that I’m not guilty … and I love California." (Watch here.)
Then, once in jail, the Game-play continued. He made gang signs, showed off a wad of cash, and was cheered by adoring fans. (Watch here.)
So why was Game so happy to have done got got? Did his street cred need the boost? Or is he just a bad mofo who’s above the law?
Find yourself missing Ricky Martin in his Menudo heyday? You’re in luck — MTV Tr3s, MTV’s Latin culture channel, is following in the rich tradition of P. Diddy and the Pussycat Dolls by putting together the second coming of the popular late ’80s Puerto Rican boy band. The show will feature seasoned music vet Johnny Wright (Justin Timberlake, New Kids on the Block) and former Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough as judges, and will follow the trials and tribulations of 12 young boys desperately vying for a chance to peform in a band that probably already disbanded by the time they were born.
Will you watch "The Road to Menudo"?
Eve is the latest celeb suspected of driving under the influence after she crashed her gold Maserati into a divider on Hollywood Boulevard at 2:45 this morning. Gossip army TMZ responded with the same speed as the police, and were able to catch a crying Eve being loaded into a squad car as a male companion shouted at photographers. In an odd twist of events, Academy Award-winning actor and family man Sean Penn visited the Philly-bred rapper in the hours between her booking and release. Eve posted bail this morning and was picked up in yet another Maserati.
Why do you think Sean Penn was visiting Eve?
Sure, everyone wants to look like Courtney Love. But it’s not easy — smearing your lipstick just so and getting that rolled-out-of-bed hair is an art. Luckily, Court’s thrown some items up on eBay that’ll make emulating the rocker/tabloid fodder that much easier. Assures Court from the message board: "i will make sure i put some cheap[er stuff up so people caN AFFORD it cozs most of it is quite expensive stuff,,,,,,,,,,were starting with that stufff first, but i have tons of jeans and tshirts and dresses that arent couture that will go in teh second batch"[sic]. With her recent weight loss (the product of yoga and isopure shakes) Love can no longer fit into her size 8 Marc Jacobs pinstripe pants, or her size 32 Juicy Couture slacks, and she wants you to have them! Procceds will go to the Chrysalis Foundation, which provides help for the homeless.
And amazingly, she’s got good feedback.

Rehab Works Wonders on Van Halen
In addition to detox and counseling, looks like they offer frosting and tanning services at Eddie Van Halen’s rehab clinic. Or at least de-Golluming.
After lucidly railing against global warming, Thom Yorke drops typos like they’re hot and reveals he’s got a new Radiohead album, then rubs your face in it. "i have a cd of what we;’ve been up to…and you haven’t. yet. (sorry)" [mega-sic].
