Surprisingly, Frank Ocean’s Cover Of Prince’s “When You Were Mine” Didn’t Result In Panties Thrown On Stage

Here’s something to make Frank Ocean fans a little jealous. Hey, we figured we shouldn’t be alone in our jealousy of everyone who attended Frank Ocean’s Wiltern performance in LA last night. For his hour long set he performed “Pyramids,” “Sweet Thing,” and “Super Rich Kids,” with a surprise cameo of Odd Future’s Earl Sweatshirt. Ocean also covered Prince‘s “When You Were Mine” for a crowd of screaming fans. When’s the last time someone did a cover to the genius that is Prince? Although OC Weekly critiqued Ocean’s stage presence for not being “lively” enough, the deafening screams of attendees paint another picture. Read more…

Katy Perry Raps Too…At Karaoke Night

Katy Perry Raps "Welcome To Miami"

Katy Perry sings, writes music, makes movies, wears death-defying outfits and now raps. TMZ reports during a fun night of karaoke on Catalina Island Katy and a friend do a rendition of Will Smith‘s 90s hit “Welcome to Miami.” Although Katy’s face isn’t visible you can hear the pop star rapping the words as if she’s done this before. She hilariously changes up the pitch of her voice spitting some of the lyrics in really high octaves. Such a fire spitter! It’s unclear if Katy was inebriated or just having a great time with her best friend who she shouts out with a very loud, “I love my best friend!” If Katy does a rap verse on someone else’s song, it all began from this, folks. VH1 EXCLUSIVE: Nas Says If He Married Again He Wouldn’t Cheat

Nas has been beaming as of late in preparation for album number 10, Life Is Good. On the day of his album’s release,VH1 sat down with the legendary emcee to discuss the music and what makes life great. For Nas, Life Is Good represents an honest place of where he’s been and where he’s at today. The good, bad and ugly. One of the most introspective songs, “Bye Baby,” is about his ex-wife Kelis, the one whose green wedding dress he’s holding on the cover. In the song he raps, “Listen, could you imagine writing your deposition?/Divorce Lawyer telling you how this thing gonna be ending?/With you paying out the a–, and I’m talking half/Not some but half. No serious, half/Half of your soul, half of your heart you leaving behind.” Nas bears his soul over a Salaam Remi & 40 beat. Read more…

Nas Celebrates Release Of Life Is Good With Champagne And Celeb Friends

Nas' Album Release Party

On the eve of NasLife Is Good release, he celebrated like any Don would–with champagne, cigars and friends. Nas had a busy night with a performance of “Daughters” on the Late Show with David Letterman, an interview with Hot 97′s Funkmaster Flex and his album release party at Bagatelle in NYC. When you’re a legend of Nas’ status there’s bound to be a lot of love in the room from peers. Throughout the night he shared laughs with Swizz Beatz, Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z, Q-tip and Jermaine Dupri. Also in attendance were Beyonce, Angie Martinez, Tyson Beckford and others.

Its been four years since Nasty Nas’ last solo album, the controversial Untitled. Early reviews are already pegging Life Is Good as one of the best in his catalog, and potentially one of the best albums of the year. His road to the happy space he’s in of living his best life (word to Oprah) has been one of overcoming many trials and tribulations. But the glow in his eyes at last night’s release is the look of a man that has triumphed. The look of success and longevity. Check out our gallery of a few pictures from last night’s celebration.

Lil Wayne Proves He Is Not A Human Being In “My Homies Still”

Lil Wayne and his skateboard take over suburbia in his new video for “My Homies Still” featuring Big Sean from the upcoming sequel album, I Am Not A Human Being Pt. 2. The front lawns of nice homes in a quiet neighborhood are crowded with Lil Wayne’s circus of disarmed naked mannequins, an elephant and random furniture. Not to mention a hyper Lil Wayne rapping in leopard shorts sans a shirt. “Don’t make my goons go stupid,” Wayne raps while the neighbor walking his dog looks rather perplexed right before his head turns into the dog’s and vice versa. Big Sean chills out next to his skeletal pal draped with a purple feather neck piece. And have we mentioned the chick making out with one of the mannequins on the porch? Read more…

Meek Mill And Drake Have An “Amen” Party, But Not In Church

Meek Mill’s recent dispute with local Philadelphia pastor over his song “Amen,” which Pastor Jomo Johnson believes to be blasphemous, didn’t phase Meek. Bright and early on Sunday morning he dropped the NSFW video to the controversial song featuring Drake. So, we’re assuming the Philly rapper wasn’t in church when he tweeted out the link to “Amen” followed by, “#amen? video is 100% real footage! Really my whips, really club liv, really my friends, really on a jet, really drake show! #mmg.” Everything is real footage, but we hypothesize the women passed out on the sofa and in the bathtub after a long night of partying isn’t “real.” But we get the drift.
