Forget A House Party, It’s All About Lady Gaga, Lindsay Lohan And Lana Del Rey’s Slumber Party

Lady Gaga, Lindsay Lohan and Lana Del Rey Have A Slumber Party

Who runs the world–girls! And running the world is much easier when you link up with like-minded bad girl rebels. On Wednesday night the streets of LA were a tad bit quieter when megastars Lindsay Lohan, Lady Gaga and Lana Del Rey got together for a slumber party at Chateau Marmont hotel. That’s not to say they didn’t have their own little party in the privacy of their hotel room. According to X17online, a source revealed to them that the threesome spent the night playing board games and watching movies. Ohmygosh! If only we could’ve been a fly on the wall to hear all the naughty things they discussed.

Before their slumber party Lady Gaga and Lindsay Lohan had such a great dinner that Gaga tweeted to her new friend, “when you ordered a cucumber and a knife to the bar last night i thought your were gonna perform a vasectomy #justaskinnyb***h.” Gaga followed up with a Twitpic of a knife stuck in a large cucumber with the caption, “@lindsaylohan how much could one do with this arrangement!” The tweets have since been deleted, but Lindsay’s short response has not been: “#skinnysnack1 @ladygaga hahaha.” Forget about the knife in the cucumber, these three girls together are dangerous! Cucumber snacks, movies and board games are a recipe for trouble. A real triple threat.

Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange Is Doing Big Things With Expected 110-125K Sales

Frank Ocean Expected To Sell 110-125K Albums

It’s true. People don’t buy albums in massive numbers like the distant days of the 80s or 90s where going triple platinum wasn’t uncommon. That said, R&B sensation Frank Ocean is projected to do big numbers after digitally releasing Channel Orange a week early on iTunes after his appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. The Def Jam artist is expected to open with 110,000-125,000 sales just from an iTunes release, which is pretty impressive considering he’s a new artist and had no additional retail push. Considering veteran Usher opened with 128,000 for Looking 4 Myself and Chris Brown topped charts at No. 1 with 134,000 sales for Fortune‘s opening week, Ocean’s slated success is a testament that fans will buy what they believe is quality music. Madonna Sued For Stealing Parts Of “Vogue,” Only 22 Short Years Later

Madonna Sued Over "Vogue" Hit

Money makes the world go ’round, so they say. Madonna is busy weeping over her own performance or having a minor nip-slip on her MDNA tour, meanwhile a Delaware company has hit her with a lawsuit claiming she stole parts of their song for her 1990 hit “Vogue.” Eons of years later, well, 22 years later, it has dawned on the company that “Vogue” allegedly includes portions of their 1977 song “Love Break.” Rolling Stone reports that VMG claims, “The portions of “Love Break,” which have been copied into “Vogue” and all its various ‘mixes,’ ‘remixes,’ videos, YouTube versions, etc., are numerous but intentionally hidden. The horn and strings in ‘Vogue’ are intentionally sampled from “Love Break” throughout.” Read more…

It’s In The Plans For Fleetwood Mac To Reunite For An Album And Tour

Fleetwood Mac To Reunite

Good news about Fleetwood Mac after the tragic suicide of former band member Bob Welch last month. During an appearance on CBS This Morning, Stevie Nicks said it’s in the plan for the group to reunite for an album and tour in 2013. Nothing is set in stone as of yet, but the possibility sounds promising. Last year Lindsey Buckingham did and interview with Rolling Stone and said, “Nothing is on the books right now. With Fleetwood Mac, there’s a lot of landmines out there politically and it’s hard to get everybody on the same page at the same time–but I think this might be one of those years where everyone will want to do the same thing.” Yesterday when Nicks was asked if everyone was on board she gave a definite, “Oh, yeah.” Read more…

Travis Barker Won’t Join Blink-182 For Australia Tour Due To Fear Of Flying: Should The Group Go On Without Him?

Blink -182 Forced To Tour Without Travis Barker

Blink-182 was warmly welcomed with their comeback album Neighborhoods–their first one in eight years– that landed them the No. 2 spot on the Billboard charts. The trio is currently touring Europe, and are booked to travel Australia in 2013. There’s only one major hang up leaving the pop-punk group in a pickle. Drummer Travis Barker will not travel to Australia with his group due to his phobia of flying following a 2008 plane crash in which he and DJ AM were critically injured. According to NME, Barker says the thought of a 24 hour flight is too much for him right now, which is totally understandable considering the trauma of surviving a plane crash where his assistant, bodyguard, pilot and co-pilot died. But the show must go on. Read more…

Meek Mill And Local Philly Pastor Have A Shouting Match On The Radio Over “Amen”

Meek Mill's "Amen" Causes Controversy With Local Pastor

Recently we picked Meek Mill’s “Amen” featuring Drake as one of the contenders for VH1′s Song of the Summer. Well not everyone is on the amen choir praising the organ laced track that shouts “amen,” “preach” and “church” to some questionable things that we’re not so sure is praise worthy in the traditional sense. All Hip Hop reports Philadelphia pastor Jomo K. Johnson (admittedly a hip-hop fan) got wind of “Amen” and called for a boycott of the song. Pastor Johnson called into Philly’s Hot 107.9 and said, “As a hip-hop fan I decided to check it out and listen to the lyrics. I was just completely shocked that Meek Mill, knowing that Philadelphia is a highly religious community, he would choose to make a song thanking the good Lord, for things that are completely contrary to the holiness of God.” We’re guessing a rendition of Meek’s infectious hit from his Dreamchasers 2 mixtape won’t be played at church this Sunday. Life Is Good For Nas And Swizz Beatz’s Performance At The ESPY Awards Despite A Boring Crowd

Life is good was the appropriate theme for last night’s ESPY Awards where accomplished athletes were recognized for their athletic successes. Gearing up for the release of his tenth studio album, Nas was the perfect person to invoke the feeling of living good with a medley of singles from his forthcoming Life Is Good. Like a true class act, dressed in a black tux he performed “Nasty,” “The Don” and was joined by Swizz Beatz for “Summer On Smash.” With DJ Lantern on the 1′s and 2′s accompanied by the live band, it felt like a classic hip-hop moment where the instruments were blaring and the lyrics meant something. Swizzy in a white tux elevated the energy on stage. Despite all of those things the ESPY Awards crowd seemed so…dry. We’ve seen grandmas less bored while watching The Price Is Right. Someone should have whispered to them, “Hey, you’re witnessing greatness.” Read more…

Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange Won’t Be Sold At Target, Def Jam Says Early Release Was ‘Always Part Of The Plan’

Def Jam Says It Wasll All A Part Of the Plan, Target Refuses To Sell His Album

Frank Ocean is winning! Following the buzz around his sexuality Ocean decided to use his own website to address the rumors once and for all. Days after revealing he’d fell in love with a man at 19, Ocean shocked everyone by releasing the digital version of his debut album Channel Orange a week early. The Internet went bananas quickly making it the No. 1 album on iTunes a couple of hours after its release. While we were busy indulging in the Stevie Wonder-esque voice over eloquent songwriting in Channel Orange, speculations were made regarding if Ocean’s early release was due to the massive support he received in opening up about his sexuality. ‘Was it a publicity stunt?’ was a common question tossed around like rice thrown at weddings. According to EW.com, Def Jam claims the early release was “all part of Channel Orange‘s unusual marketing strategy.” A marketing strategy that worked, might we add. Read more…

Chris Brown’s Winning A “Fortune” With No. 1 Album

Chris Brown Fortune No. 1

From F.A.M.E. to Fortune, Chris Brown lands his second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 charts with Fortune. According to Nielsen SoundScan, Fortune has already sold 134,000 copies. Popular songs like lead single “Turn Up the Music,” which reached No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and “Till I Die” encompassed the diversity of dance, pop, R&B and hip-hop that Breezy’s fans expect. Two No. 1 albums in two years is a success worth celebrating, especially considering both his past missteps and current drama with Drake, but could there be a decreased interest in the pop star? Comparatively 2011′s F.A.M.E. dropped atop the list with 270,000 units sold, which is more than double the sales of Fortune. Read more…

How Old Is Lil’ Kim, Exactly?

In honor of Lil’ Kim’s birthday today, VH1 took a look back at 37 iconic fashion moments throughout her career. However, after quadruple checking various sources to verify her age, we had a minor heart attack when our research did not yield a conclusive result.

Wikipedia —not the most reliable of sources, we know!— pegged Kimberly Denise Jones birth year as 1975, which means she’d be 37 today. However, her IMDB bio states she was born in 1974, putting her at 38-years-old. Her bios on Billboard, TV Guide, Yahoo Movies and Starpulse corroborate Wikipedia’s 1975 birth. On the other hand, AOL Music’s bio page for the BK rapper is in line with IMDB’s 1974. In 2005, MSNBC wrote, “Lil’ Kim, who turns 30 next week…” which would again make this a happy 37th birthday. And People.com in 2003 referred to her as a then 28-year-old making her 37 today. All of this begs the question: How old is the Queen Bee really? Read more…
