“I Wish You Would” Doubt DJ Khaled’s Power To Put Kanye West And Rick Ross On A Track Together

DJ Khaled ft. Kanye west and rick ross

DJ Khaled is the guy that puts a slew of rappers on one track that usually becomes some sort of anthem. Doing so has made Khaled one of the most known hip-hop DJs in the game. This time he’s putting out his own album, Kiss the Ring, and for his second single “I Wish You Would” he’s enlisted Kanye West and Rick Ross, the heads of G.O.O.D. Music and Maybach Music respectively. One may wonder how this is Khaled’s song when it’s produced by Hit-Boy with lyrics taken care of by Ross and West. It’s simply Khaled’s because he is the one responsible for making the track happen. Read more…

Nicki Proved Her Point To Hot 97 Summer Jam But Still Has Love For Them

Nicki Minaj Says There No Beef With Hot 97

Deep down Nicki Minaj has a forgiving heart. Her boss may have put a stop to her Summer Jam performance, she may not have liked DJ Peter Rosenberg’s comment about “Starships” and she definitely had it out with Funkmaster Flex on the radio, but the rapper says there’s no hard feelings. Over in the UK Minaj talked to UK DJ and personality Tim Westwood who asked her about the whole Summer Jam kerfuffle. Minaj tells Westwood they wanted to prove their point and Young Money is done with it. “I feel like it happened and there is no animosity, I still love them over there at the station. They’ve helped me a lot as well,” Minaj told Westwood. “It’s not like we’re walking around being angry, we just wanted to prove that one point and that was that.” Read more…

Mary J. Blige Wanted To ‘Crawl Under The Bed’ Behind The Backlash Of Her Burger King Commercial

Mary J. Blige Does Interview With Hot 97 About BK Backlash

Burger King learned the hard way that having the Queen of R&B sing about a chicken rap leads to backlash from the public. Unfortunately, Mary J. Blige also heard the outcry loud and clear. During the whole Chickengate fiasco MJB remained relatively quiet, except the statement claiming BK released an unfinished version of the commercial, which she said wasn’t anything like the idea the franchise restaurant pitched to her. MJB visited Hot 97 to discuss the commercial for the first time since the incident. Mary J. Blige says her feelings were hurt by the backlash and by the so-called friends who also had negative things to say. Read more…

Lupe Uses Cartoon Characters For Subliminal Message In “Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free)”

Cruising in a white Lamborghini with too-many-to-count diamond encrusted chains around his neck is not what you’ve come to expect in a Lupe Fiasco video. Unless, of course, he’s making a larger point. For “Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free)” from Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album, Lupe takes it to the streets of Chicago. With creepy glowing eyes he gives dap to the guys on the block. If the possessed glowy eyes were any indication of the surprises to come we should have expected to see him sitting on a porch rapping next to cartoon characters, one that happens to roll a joint, while two others shoot dice. Oh yeah, and another drinks a 40. Read more…

It’s Time To “Celebrate” In Jordin Sparks And Whitney Houston Video

Whitney Houston may be missing from the “Celebrate” video, the last song she ever recorded, but her presence is felt. Jordin Sparks and Houston collaborated on “Celebrate” for their upcoming remake of the 1976 film Sparkle. Since Houston couldn’t appear in the video as originally planned, Sparks and her Sparkle co-stars turn “Celebrate” into a tribute to the one and only Whitney Houston. One can easily catch themselves snapping to the catchy upbeat tune. The dancing and laughing shown in video makes one want to have a celebration of their own. Whitney may not be present physically, but scenes from Sparkle show her just the way we’d like to remember her–happy! Read more…

R.Kelly Cancels Book Launch Due To Health Emergency

R.Kelly Cancels Book Launch Event Because of health emergency

Its been a while since we’ve heard so much buzz surrounding R. Kelly’s career. Due to a “health emergency” Kelly canceled his book launch event scheduled for Wednesday night in NYC. His autobiography Soulacoaster debuts around the same time as his 11th studio album Write Me Back. Along with canceling the book launch event the Jimmy Fallon appearance and NBC’s Today Show performance were cancelled as well. According to TMZ, the Pied Piper’s reps said, “Initial indications are that he is suffering from complications from surgery he had last year to treat an abscess on his vocal cords.” No indication was given as to how long Kelly would be out of commission for his illness, but we’re sure he, more than anyone, wants to get back to work. His new album has been received fairly well by music critics calling it one of his better efforts in a long time. Professionally his illness couldn’t have come at a worse time, but there’s never a time better than the present to take care of one’s health. Read more…

Lady Gaga Sings About Death In Her Australia Debut Of “Princess Die”

Like the popular saying, “One monkey don’t stop no show,” one country’s ban of her concert doesn’t stop Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Ball tour. On the Australian stop of her world tour she debuted “Princess Die,” which she tells screaming fans may or may not be on her next album. Before launching the melancholy tune she wrote, she gives a caveat that it’s “a little bit sad and it’s no way reflective of the music on the rest of the album, but it’s about some of the most deep and personal thoughts I’ve ever had.” Read more…

Lana Del Rey And A$AP Rocky Are The New Age Love Story In “National Anthem”

She’s Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and briefly Marilyn Monroe. Lana Del Rey opens the Born to Die “National Anthem” video singing “Happy Birthday, Mr. President.” And who is Mr. President? A$AP Rocky smokes a cigar while toting a gold grill. In a bit of revisionist history LDR and Rocky are modern day Jackie O and JFK with two adorable kids. As Jackie Kennedy LDR reinvents the First Lady as one born in the generation of bling. Hence, “money is the anthem of success.” Read more…

Nicki Minaj Rocks London With Pink Friday Tour

The boss may have yanked her from Hot 97 Summer Jam at the last minute, but that hasn’t kept Nicki Minaj from jet-setting to London for her Pink Friday tour. For the first of two performances at London’s Hammersmith Apollo Nicki enters the stage as dramatic as her personality. Draped in a black robe she launches into “Roman’s Revenge” as the voices of the crowd rapping along overpower her own. She also performed “Did It On Em,” “Beez in the Trap,” “Right By My Side” and “Moment 4 Life.” Every moment along the way Nicki’s Barbz rapped and sung every single word. And as an artist that has to be the best feeling in the world. Read more…

Justin Bieber Has No Problem Doing An Impromptu Cover Of Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” While Being Silly

Bieber Does An Impromptu of "Call Me Maybe"

Carly Rae Jepsen is Justin Bieber’s favorite new artist, well at least it seems that way. In a recent interview with Fuse he was asked by a member of the audience, “What are some of your current favorite songs that you can’t get enough?” Instead of typical response of listing other artists he loves, Biebs busts out with an impromptu cover of Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe.” Not only is he singing the song acapella, he dances around in his seat, which has to make the list (whenever someone creates it) of most funny covers. Bieber was right when he tweeted back in December that Jespen’s “Call Me Maybe” was “possibly the catchiest song I’ve ever heard.” It is so catchy that his cover inspired the entire audience to sing along. Got to love that Bieber. Read more…
