12 Days Of DIVAS: Destiny’s Child Get Fierce And Unbelievably Sexy For “Say My Name”

It’s the 7th day of DIVAS, and the VH1 DIVAS Celebrates Soul event is hurtling towards us now — we can’t wait until it hits! Set to air on VH1 on Monday, December 19 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, the show will feature performances by Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson, Florence + The Machine, Kelly Clarkson, Jessie J and other lovely ladies. In our 12 Days Of DIVAS special, we’ve been revisiting some of our favorite performances from DIVAS past, including Jill Scott, Beyoncé, Gladys Knight, Whitney Houston, Donna Summer and a duet between Joss Stone and Gladys Knight.

Remember when there were 4? Today, for the 7th day of DIVAS, we’re giving you Destiny’s Child performing “Say My Name” in 2000. The girls may have been whittled down until there was only one left sitting on the throne — King B, naturally — but Destiny’s Child are iconic in their own right, and always will be. As fresh faced teenagers on the brink of young adulthood, the girls are SO 2000 in matching gold get ups, heavy makeup and synchronized dances. Moreover, they’re fierce and sexy, laying the foundation for the legacy of female empowerment that Beyoncé continues to champion 11 years later.

VH1 DIVAS Celebrates Soul will premiere exclusively on VH1 on Monday, December 19, 2011, at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT.

Saturday Night Live Staffers Lose Their Minds A Little Bit, Reenact Robyn’s “Call Your Girlfriend” To Perfection

Ever wondered what happened on the Saturday Night Live Writers’ Night? Apparently, not writing — but we’re not complaining, because this is better. Preparing for last weekend’s SNL hosted by Katy Perry with performance by Robyn, SNL star Taran Killam and a bunch of his peers — SNL writers Sarah Schneider and Zach Kanin, and fellow cast members Abby Elliott, Vanessa Bayer and Bobby Moynihan— got a bit batty and experimental at 4.30am. The team reenacted Robyn‘s “Call Your Girlfriend” with impeccable accuracy, from the dance right down to the lighting. Watch the video above for your morning LOL.

Tuned In: Foster The People Play The Quirky “Don’t Stop” Live On Leno

It’s all about You Oughta Know band Foster The People right now, and if you still don’t know who they are you’re even more clueless than these Jeopardy contestants. Just kidding, you’re only clueless if, in reading this, you don’t immediately go and listen to some FTP. The boys are hot business, after all, having been nominated for Grammys and whatnot. Last night, they performed their new single “Don’t Stop” live on Leno (we premiered the video for the single last week) and it was everything you’d expect from FTP: high energy, impeccable vocals and instrumentals, weird crap on the walls and lots of color and flashing lights. And also Mark Foster is a babe. Fin.

EXCLUSIVE: The Black Keys Discuss Their Decision Not To Allow El Camino On Spotify; “For A Band That Makes A Living Selling Music, It’s Not At A Point Where It’s Feasible For Us”

The Black Keys just released their new record, El Camino, and are currently in the midst of a huge promotional push to get the word out about it. Still riding the crest of viral popularity of their video for first single “Lonely Boy,” the band has showcased their new songs on SNL and an MTV Hive livestream, but are currently causing waves with fans (including our own Kat George) by not allowing El Camino to appear on popular streaming sites like Spotify, Rdio and MOG.

Well, we were lucky enough to grab some time with The Black Keys singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney over the weekend and were able to ask them about this controversial decision. Carney told us that, “[Streaming services] are becoming more popular, but it still isn’t at a point where you’re able to replace royalties from record sales with the royalties from streams…For a band that makes a living selling music, it’s not at a point where it’s feasible for us.” He went on to explain that he endorses services like Pandora, where fans are able to sample and discover new music on a song-by-song basis, but commented that the Spotifys of the world are “set up to be a little more fair for the labels than for the artists.”

What say you guys, the music fans, about this hot button issue in the today’s music industry? Are you on the side of the Black Keys, and think that fans should support their favorite artists by buying their albums and singles through retail outlets? Or does the Black Keys’ decision not to allow El Camino to appear on streaming services like Spotify make you less likely to listen to their music? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Check Out Beyonce’s Giant Hair In Never Before Seen Footage From Her UK Concert, A Night With Beyonce

Previously unseen footage of Beyoncé‘s A Night With Beyoncé show in the UK is now available for seeing, and what a sight! Performing “Run The World (Girls)” (above) and “I Care” (after the jump), Beyoncé is spectacular in a sheer, nude colored body suit that is adorned strategically with sparkles to hide her, er… naughty parts. With her signature windswept hair, Bey kills it on the dance floor, proving who runs the world with her all-female ensemble — and it’s King B, because even with all those other beautiful, talented women up there, we’ve only got eyes for one. One of the most glorious things about watch this is the crowd — we’ve never seen a pop concert illicit such commitment in the quality of dance moves, so it must be true, Bey really does have the best fans. There’s also footage of Bey clad in white as a Grecian goddess for “Party” (after the jump), and if you haven’t fainted from the awesomeness of the other two clips, you should definitely watch it.

Adele’s Talking About A New Album … In Maybe Four Or Five Years!

Adele has all become Queen Of The World this year, unanimously placed at the head of “Top” and “Best” lists for her album 21 (ranked by both industry critics and the public), and yet again receiving nominations for a slew of Grammys, which it seems she’s a shoo-in to win a handful of. So how does the international super star plan to follow up her epic year? With a good old fashioned rest, to be sure!

Forget a hastily produced third record (as has been the trend with pop stars of late, resulting generally in quantity of quality), Adele is going to get some much needed R and R before leaping into her next musical offering, which, she predicts, will be when she’s 25 or 26. Of the decision, Adele says, “I’m just gonna lay some concrete, set up home and just ‘be’ for a bit. I’ll disappear and come back with a record when it’s good enough. There will be no new music until it’s good enough and until I’m ready.” On the mend from vocal cord surgery, the move seems like a sensible one for Adele’s voice, and a rather mature one from the perspective of someone who values their art over the dollar value assigned to it.

Do You Love Drake Enough To Have His Name Tattooed Across Your Forehead? (If You Do, This Woman Beat You To It)

Can anyone say “fan girl”? Showing her commitment to Drizzy, this young woman went all out and got “DRAKE” tattooed across her forehead. Drake. Tattooed. Across her forehead. For realsies.

We could forgive a “Drake” tattoo, but emblazoned across her forehead in tall letters that start at her eyebrows and end at her hairline? We’re frightened, but still intrigued. Vice spoke to Kevin Campbell, the LA based tattoo artist responsible for applying the horrifying homage, and he says of his decision to accept her patronage, “Sure, I could have turned her away, and I’m already getting a ton of flack from other tattooers for this, but the way I see it, if she’s got her little heart set on getting her forehead tattooed then she’ll just keep on trying until somebody finally goes through with it.” Righto. The move is pretty bad ass for a fan of someone who has been deemed the “softest” player in the hip hop genre; maybe a little bit too bad ass? Would you get a tattoo of your musical icon smacked, bang! in the middle of your forehead? A cursive “Bublé,” or “Nickelback” in a bold font? What we’re wondering is if the unnamed woman has any regrets; if she’s even vaguely employable as anything but a Drake roadie; what Drake thinks about the whole thing and will he indeed be employing her?
