This next Bracket Madness face-off finds Lil Wayne going up against Justin Timberlake; Wayne’s ever expanding catalog against Justin’s carefully tailored hits. Mostly we would love to hear a collaboration from these two, Justin’s smooth croon playing foil to Wayne’s infamous croaky flow, together in male artist greatness. But we are here to crown just one, so which of the two deserves the title? As we mentioned, polls for this round of Bracket Madness will be open until MONDAY at 4PM, meaning you now have a few extra days to mull over who you think deserves the Greatest Male Artist crown. If there can only be one, who should it be? Read more…

Roscoe Dash Calls Out Kanye West And Wale For His Missing Writing Credits

Roscoe Dash Wants His Credit From Kanye And Wale

Cruel Summer may be on constant rotation on our iPods as we analyze how the compilation album measures against Kanye West‘s previous projects, but Atlanta rapper Roscoe Dash is probably using the album as a coaster. See, Roscoe Dash is upset about not being in the credits of Ye’s video about the making of the album. Instead of remaining silent he took to Twitter to air out Yeezy for the omission in the credits for “To The World,” which he says his ad libs can be heard on. “Everybody go get the G.O.O.D album and listen to #1 then watch @kanyewest interview… & tell me y I’m not on the credits,” he tweeted. “Can’t do favors for n—– bcuz no matter how humble and generous u r to ppl n—– will take everything u have… Even n—- u look up to.” This man is clearly fearless because doesn’t he know Ye will slay him in a song? Monsters Calling Home Goes From Worst Moment To Best With Surprise Jimmy Kimmel Gig

What’s the recipe for the worst gig ever turned best?  Just ask LA-based indie band Monsters Calling Home, who went from low to high in an instant.  The back story: The band shot a music video for their song, “Fight to Keep” inside their Hondas. Honda came across it on YouTube and wanted to say thanks in an epic way as part of their Honda Loves You Back campaign, so Honda invited the band to play a private show for a bunch of executives.

Sounds like the break they needed, but when the band showed up for the gig, but there was no audience. They were told that everyone was held up in meetings. Worst gig ever. That’s when Honda dropped the big reveal — They weren’t meant to play for a bunch of execs, Honda had scored them a surprise slot on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Their priceless reactions were caught on film.

From worst to best in a couple of seconds.  Priceless.

Say Their Name: Destiny’s Child’s Will Release Their Greatest Hits Collection In October

Though there’s still no word on that reunion tour nor the new music we had hoped for, we are happy to report that Destiny’s Child will be returning to the charts this October with a finally confirmed the release of their greatest hits collection called Playlist. The 14-track album will account for the many iterations of Destiny’s Child — Beyonce, LaTavia, Kelly, LeToya and Michelle each being represented at some point —  and is set to arrive on October 8th, just in time to celebrate the 15-year anniversary of their first No. 1 hit, “No, No, No Part 2.”

Earlier this year Beyonce’s father and the group’s manager, Mathew Knowles, told the Huffington Post that he is working to release two catalog albums this fall, along with some previously unreleased material. Playlist doesn’t include anything new, and though we might also have included “Apple Pie A La Mode,” “Dangerously In Love,” or “Confessions,” they seem to have otherwise made sure that all the hits (“Bills, Bills, Bills” to “Soldier”) and fan favorites (“Illusion” t0 “So Good”) are covered. It’s been seven years since the girls released Destiny Fulfilled and then went each their own way, but we’ve never stopped saying their name or wishing for a comeback. Until then, this new Playlist should do!

Check out the tracklist for Playlist below. Did your favorite DC song make the cut?

Calvin Harris Stands Up For A Cabaret-Dancing Florence Welch In Dark New Video

Last month, Calvin Harris helped Rihanna take home the MTV VMA for Video of the Year with “We Found Love,” a video whose dysfunctional romance and dark-but-beautiful imagery has been permeating the hearts and minds of viewers since last year. In keeping that gloomy theme alive, Harris has returned with a video for his forthcoming album’s fifth single, this time alongside Florence Welch, to deliver an intense visual for an already powerful song.

Leona Lewis May Have A “Glassheart,” But It Makes You Want To Dance

Leona Lewis Glassheart

Her soprano operatic voice is made for beautiful ballads. Leona Lewis has the chops to pour her soul into “Bleeding Love” or “Run.” Unlike it’s predecessors, the title track “Glassheart” is a gritty dubstep song with a house beat. It’s about love, more specifically heartbreak. Melancholy doesn’t exist in the sound despite the sadness of the lyrics. Dancing through a broken heart seems like the only thing left to do while “Glassheart” plays. Anything else would be unfitting. Read more…

GIF-ed! One Direction Show Us How To “Live While We’re Young”

This morning the video for “Live While We’re Young” made it’s way on to the internet, and alas we get our first taste of One Direction‘s much anticipated sophomore album Take Me Home. We’re still listening to “What Makes You Beautiful” and “One Thing” like we’ve only just met them, but let’s skip the pretending and just admit already that it’s love because this song vibrates with even more boy band magic than anything we’ve heard from them in the past.

“Live While We’re Young” opens with a guitar lick lifted from The Clash‘s “Should I Say or Should I Go?” and Niall hollering at us: “Hey girl, I am waiting on you.” And it only gets bigger and more fun from there, with gang sung “woo-ohh ohh ohhs,” a persistent cow-bell and suggestive insistences like “if we get together, don’t let the pictures leave you’re phone” and “I know we only met, but let’s pretend it’s love.” And the accompanying video really drive the song’s message home, as it finds the 1D boys showing off what it’s like to “Live While We’re Young” while hang out in a tent, playing with giant inflatable fruits and just generally goofing off. Because, these guys are young and hot and on the rise — so why not?

So what does it mean to “Live While You’re Young”? Let’s let the boys of 1D show us via .gif: Read more…
